Love In A Different Way

Shawn Mendes was a well-known name in the school of Ridgeview. He and his friends, Cameron, Nash, Jack Gilinsky, Jack Johnson, Aaron, and Matt were very well known at school. Nash, Jack G, and Aaron were on the soccer team while Matt, Cameron, and Jack J were on the basketball team.

Shawn didn't really do sports. He played guitar and liked acting but not sports. It was weird how all of them got along, but they've made it work this long. Plus both Jacks liked music and making music so they could bond over that.

Shawn was next door neighbors with Cameron and their moms became friend so automatically they became friends and they have been friend ever since. Cameron met Matt and Jack J on the basketball team and introduced them to Shawn. Shawn met Jack G who was friends with Aaron and Nash from the soccer team.

They all became one big group of friends, they all got along great. No really big fights that affected their friendships.

Some of the fights were for girls, even though more than half of them were gay. Aaron and Matt always seem to find the same girls attractive and it always turns out badly for both of them. Jack G and Cameron were bisexual and Nash and Jack J are gay, and they have caused their own bits of fights as well.

Over all though they were a great group of friends. And a very popular one at that.

Everyone one in the school knew these boys. Mostly because the girls thought they were hot and guys wanted to be them. Or the girls knew some were gay and wanted to be friends with them.

Speaking of that, Nash and Shawn were walking down the hallway going to English when a girl stopped in front of them.

"Hi" she smiled her pearly whites on display

"Um hi" Nash smiled

"So I was wondering what you were doing this Friday Nash?" she asked twirling her hair with her finger

"Um hanging with my mates, sorry darling" he said trying not to be rude. He's used to this though, girls not knowing he's gay and trying to date him. He's always nice about it though, never making the girls upset just trying to tell them that he doesn't, you know, swing that way.

"Oh ok that's ok" she smiled sadly before walking off

"You know all the little nicknames you give the girls aren't really helping" Shawn said as they started walking again

"I know" he sighed "But it lets them down easier about"

"Hey losers!" someone yelled making them turn and see Cameron running up to them

"Hey Cam" Nash smiled shyly looking down at the ground

"Hi gorgeous" Cameron smiled kissing Nash's cheek making him blush

"Hey Cameron" Shawn said

"Hey Shawny how are you doing my boy?" Cameron asked throwing his arm over Shawn's shoulders

"I'm good, how are you?" Shawn asked

"I'm just peachy" Cameron smiled

"Isn't your class the other way?" Nash asked knowing he had history on the other side of the school

"Yes, and your class is this way" Cam said pointing down the hall before pulling Nash close by his waist making the boy blush more

"Cam I think we can walk ourselves" Shawn rolled his eyes

"Oh I know you can, but I just wanted to see this cutie" Cameron smiled nudging his nose in Nash's hair.

Now, Nash and Cameron aren't together but Nash does like Cameron a lot. And Cameron being the oblivious boy he is doesn't notice and flirts and cuddles with Nash. Nash isn't complaining it's just that he wishes they were together for real not just fun friendly flirting.

"I'm sorry" Shawn apologized looking back at the person who he just bumped shoulders with seeing a girl with her head down and her books close to her chest

"We're here" Cameron smiled stopping in front of the class room

"Well this is our stop bye Cameron" Shawn rolled his eyes waving to Cameron before walking into the class

"You should probably get to your class now" Nash said quietly looking up at Cameron

"I'll see you at lunch babe" Cameron smirked leaning down and kissing Nash's cheek, his lips lingering longer than usual before running to his own class.

"No you wish you could dunk on a net like that" Matt laughed as Aaron said he could dunk on the basketball hoop at school

"I totally could" Aaron fought back

"Do they ever shut up?" Jack G asked sitting down next to Shawn who had his lyric book out with a pencil trying to write songs

"No not really" Shawn bite the end of his pencil

"Where's Cam and Nash?" Jack J asked sitting on the other side of Shawn

"Probably making out somewhere" Jack G muttered

"They're not together yet" Shawn laughed lightly

"Yet" Jack G smirked

"Hey guys" Cameron smiled walking in while running a hand through his hair

"Where's Nash?" Matt asked as he shot the ball and missed, making Aaron laugh

"He had to talk to his Science teacher about making up the test yesterday" Cameron said going and sitting behind Shawn on the bleachers looking over his shoulder. Someone knocked on the gym door making them look up and see two girls walk in.

"Um hi" Matt smiled at the girls

"Hi" one of the girls smiled wide while the other girl stayed back hiding behind her friend. Matt looked up from where he was playing

"Well hi there I'm Aaron, and what would your name be?" Aaron smirked throwing the ball to Matt and walking over to the girls

"I'm Jessica" the girl said flirtatiously

"Well Jessica, what brings you over here?" Aaron asked, Shawn looked up and noticed the girl behind her slowly backing away

"Hello beautiful what's your name?" Cameron asked standing up and slowly walking over to the girl who was behind Jessica. Her head shot up and she looked over at where Cameron was walking over.

"Me?" she asked shocked pointing to herself

"Yes you darling" Cameron chuckled "What's your name?"

"I um I'm" the girl stuttered her cheeks slowly turning pink

"That's Rose" Jessica said before turning back to her conversation with Aaron

"What a beautiful name for such a beautiful girl" Cameron smiled

"What is your friend talking to Aaron about?" Jack J asked coming and standing next to Cameron

"Um she wanted to go on a date with him Saturday" Rose mumbled looking down at her hands that she was fumbling with. Shawn was watching the whole thing seeing how shy the girl looked and it made him smile a bit, because honestly it was adorable

"I think she's got herself plans then" Jack J smirked looking and seeing them laughing and standing close

"Um I need to go um I need to get home" Rose said pointing to the door

"What about Jessica?" Cameron asked looking back at her friend

"She'll be there a while" Rose mumbled "Just tell her I went home"

"Of course, beautiful" Cameron smiled. Rose smiled shyly before waving to the boys and walking away with her head bowed. Shawn watched as she left the room and went right, down the hallway.

He suddenly had an idea and started writing down some song lyrics. When he was done he looked down and the lyrics and realized they were all about a girl. And he hasn't had a girlfriend since grade 9.
