It stung at first, but it helped loosen the tightness in my muscles from the fight earlier. I let the steam rise, watching it fog the bathroom mirror. The reflection stared back, more exhausted than I realized. Not just from the fight—I could handle that—but from the weight of what had happened.
My mind still struggled to wrap around the events from earlier. Vlads words. Was he giving me a chance? How did I know it wasn't all some trick? Although he made it clear he didn't trust me, It seemed like he was finally coming around, which I was extremely grateful for.
I leaned against the tile for a second, closing my eyes. This week wasn't just about surviving an internship anymore. I had a chance to prove to Vlad I wasn't the villain he thought I was. And I wholeheartedly intended to take it.
Sighing, I stepped out of the shower, putting on fresh pj's. I plop down onto the bed, reaching for my phone. A text from Shinsou flashed across the screen, and I couldn't help the small smile that tugged at my lips.
Bedhead: How's ur internship going?
Me: It's going
Bedhead: Did you get your ass kicked on the first day?
Me: Actually I did
Me: My abdomen still stings lol

I set my phone down on the bed, my mind wandering back to the fight. I needed to prove to Vlad that he was wrong. Although he was giving me a change, any small thing could change that. I needed to show him that I was someone destined to be hero, someone made for it. And if I succeeded at that, he might finally get off my back.
I needed to give this internship my all. With newfound determination, I set my alarm for an earlier time then normal and hit the sheets.

There was a knock at the door, and Scout poked her head in. "Rise and shine—! Oh, look at you, you're already awake" her lips fell into a small smile. "Good. You've got 20 minutes to be up and at 'em."
