Atlanta, GaI sat on the edge of my bed, my laptop perched in front of me.
The video footage played on the screen, showing the warehouse engulfed in flames before Jaquan's car even pulled into view.
My heart raced with a mix of relief and excitement.
"Oh my gosh, Neisha," I said, my voice trembling.
"This is what's going to get Quan out of jail. He wasn't even there when the fire started!"
Neisha, lounging on her bed on FaceTime , raised an eyebrow.
"Okay, slow down, detective gadget. You can't just run to the lawyer with this."
I frowned.
Why is this hoe playin right now????
"Why not? This is proof that he didn't start the fire!"
She sat up, her expression serious.
"Girl, we got that footage illegally. You think a judge is gonna look at that and be like, 'Oh, yeah, this is totally legit'? No, they'll throw it out faster than we got it."
My excitement deflated instantly.
I shut the laptop with a sigh, burying my face in my hands.
"Then what am I supposed to do? I'm out of ideas, Neish."
Neisha was quiet for a moment before she gasped, sitting upright as if a lightbulb seemed to go off in her head.
"Wait. Oh my gosh, we are so dumb."
I glanced up, confused.
"What? How are we dumb?"
Neisha gave me a pointed look.
"Girl, you said Quan is protecting someone, right?"
"Yeah...so?"
She leaned in close to the camera, her eyes lighting up.
"Who else would Quan protect till the ends of the earth no matter what?"
I blinked, the gears in my head turning.
Then it hit me.
"Nah, them niggas wouldn't dare.."
"You and I know they most definitely would!" Neisha said, shaking her head.
"Quan would do anything for the asses. You know how tight they roll. If anyone knows what really happened that night, it's them niggas."
I nodded slowly, feeling a flicker of hope reignite.
"You're right. They've always been ride or die for each other. If I can just get one of them to talk..."
Neisha smirked.
"Oh they ain't got no damn choice now. And we gone start with Saint and ManMan ass. They might not spill to the cops, but they'll talk to us. Especially if they know we're trying to help Quan."
I stood, pacing the room.
"Okay, but who do I start with? You know once them niggas think someone onto them they get to movin real funky."
Neisha shrugged.
"You get ManMan and I'll ask Saint, how about we come over there tmr and you tell them it's cause you need the company but really it's to interrogate them."
