17. Isobel

The last few days have been interesting. John, Pearl, Anna, and Lexa had been putting on a show for Damon, Stefan, and Elena. Apparently, Damon and Alaric had found one of the Tomb Vampires that John had been helping out. His name was Henry. Lexa had helped set up the apartment he was in, so to hear that Damon and Alaric had killed him, Jeremy had to hold her back from killing the two.

Since then, John had been hounding Damon more for the invention, even though he knew that Lexa now had it. John knew that Lexa would be gunning for them, so he'd managed to put some feelers out to draw Isobel to Mystic Falls. When he'd told her, Lexa had laughed and told him she couldn't wait to see their reactions. They had informed Jenna too, just in case. Jenna was more than happy to act clueless and see if any of them would slip up around her.

Today though, Lexa was being forced to help build the Miss Mystic Falls float for the Founder's Day Parade. With it coming up, John had warned Pearl, Anna, and their friend Harper. The three had decided to leave Mystic Falls, rather than try to build a life like they'd originally planned. Harper and Pearl had already left, but Anna was staying to help the Gilberts, then she too, would leave. Jeremy and Anna had decided to stay friends, rather than pursue anything romantic with her leaving.

Just as Lexa was finishing up getting ready, she heard Elena on the phone.

"I'm supposed to help build the Miss Mystic Float for the Founder's Day Parade. If I don't I get the wrath of Caroline, but I wanted to check in first" Lexa heard her say. She decided to listen in, pretending to fluff her hair in the hallway mirror. "Checking in on Stefan... What's the matter?... Don't forget who helped me... No. I'm still avoiding him. Why? What's he up to?... I've got to go, I'm late"

Lexa grabbed a coat from her room and exited, just as Elena did.

"You heading to the school too?" Lexa asked Elena, acting confused.

"Yes" Elena told her shortly.

"Need a ride? I'm taking Jeremy. Apparently, he's being roped into helping the History Float"

"No. I'll drive myself, thanks" Elena scoffed out before she headed downstairs and straight out the door.

"Jeez. Touchy much" Lexa muttered to herself. She headed to the kitchen where she spotted Jeremy and John. "I think Damon is still on your case. I just overheard Elena on the phone. Very suspicious of you. Be careful with Isobel today please? And Jer? Get in the car, we're going to be late. I'll blame you if Caroline asks why" Lexa told the two men. She gave her dad a kiss on the cheek, and they watched Jeremy sprint to the car. The father-daughter duo laughed and she made her way to her car. Jeremy mock glared at her when she got there, but she just stuck her tongue out at him.

As soon as the Gilbert siblings arrived at the school, Jeremy had taken off. Lexa knew he was trying to hide out, so Caroline wouldn't yell at him again. With a chuckle, Lexa headed towards the cafeteria. Her heels clicked loudly across the floor, and her curls flew behind her as she searched for her blonde friend. There were a fair few people around, so Lexa smiled and greeted the ones who'd greeted her, mainly the cheerleaders and football team. Entering the cafeteria, Lexa barely acknowledged Ric, Stefan, and Elena exiting. Her eyes immediately found her best friend.

"Caroline! My Queen!" Lexa yelled out, running towards her. Caroline sighed, stood up, and caught Lexa as she jumped on her to give her a hug. Lexa heard Bonnie giggling from behind Caroline. "Hi Bonnie. Up for a day of being tortured?" Lexa asked with a cheeky smirk, still holding on to Caroline. Unfortunately for her, it meant that Caroline could smack the back of her head at her comment. "Ow!"

Caroline mock glared at her when they finally let each other go, but Lexa just smiled innocently. The three girls then started laughing.

"Alright, show me" Bonnie said to Caroline.
