Lexa stayed up for hours, waiting for Caroline to wake up. Katherine had left earlier, not wanting to raise any suspicions should anybody else come by. Just as Lexa was finishing up notes on a day walking tattoo, Caroline gasped awake.

"Oh, thank God. You're awake. Here. Katherine grabbed this before she left for you" Lexa said and she pulled out a blood bag. She hands it to the new vampire.

"Thank you" Caroline says and then she starts drinking it. She moaned at the taste. "That's so weird! I'd be disgusted with that before now. But it tastes really sweet"

Lexa giggled at her friend's expression. Then, she pulled out an anklet. "I had this one in my bag for emergencies. I'll spell it when the sun comes up and then we'll find you a perfect fit"

"Thank you! Oh, I love you so much!" Caroline squealed and she hugged her friend tight.

"Care! Strength!" Lexa managed to cough out. Caroline sped back.

"Oh, God. I'm so sorry!" Caroline squealed out.

"Don't panic. It'll just be an adjustment period" Lexa laughed out. Caroline joined her. "I've got another bag if you'd like it"

"Please. I don't want to eat you" Caroline said softly.

"You won't. Not only do I not smell appealing to vampires, thank you magic, but I also have vervain in my system so you wouldn't get far anyway"

"You think of everything" Caroline told her best friend.

"Of course I do! I've also started a design for a vervain tattoo for me. Do you want me to do a day walking one for you?"

"Yes! Oh, what should I have?"

The two girls spent the rest of the night, designing different tattoos. Lexa's plan was to have a line art small bouquet of vervain flowers on her rib cage as her vervain tattoo. Caroline thought that would be so on the nose and yet amazing. Lexa had also told Caroline that she'd ordered a tattoo gun, supplies, and a couple of fake skin swatches so that her and Jeremy could practice doing them on each other. It meant that no one would ask questions about why they wanted the ink mixed certain ways. The new vampire thought that was an amazing idea. Perhaps they could offer the service to others for a price and create their own supernatural business. Lexa face palmed and asked her why she hadn't thought of that sooner! Caroline laughed and watched as Lexa went on a reputable jeweller's website and ordered some more lapis lazuli jewellery.

Once the sun came up, Lexa spelled the anklet and placed it on Caroline. She mentioned that it could only be removed by Caroline or Lexa. Once she'd admired her new item of jewellery, Caroline kicked Lexa out of the hospital, telling her to go oversee the carnival to make sure that Elena didn't screw it up. Lexa laughed at her friend and then she left to go home, shower, and change.

The school carnival looked good. Caroline's standards were high, and everybody was doing their best to make it up to those standards so she could see it if she was discharged whilst it was happening. Even though, officially, Elena and Bonnie had taken on the roles of organisers, many of the students helping set up asked Lexa what to do, or if they were sent do to a job right. Earlier, Lexa had spotted Elena and Bonnie talking but she hadn't bothered to try and figure that out. She knew it would be about Katherine or Damon. So, she'd gone to find Jeremy.

"Vervain is toxic to vampires" Lexa heard from Stefan as he spoke to Jeremy at his locker. Lexa hid around the corner to keep eavesdropping.

"Like poison?" Jeremy asked, playing dumb. Lexa smiled, proud of her younger brother.
