"Woah." Sofia mutters by my side, her small steps struggling to keep up with my long strides. "I don't think I've ever seen you reject a pass like that." She manages in awe as if she just saw me pull a rabbit out of the front desk lady's ear.
Conveniently the same person who decided that now would be a lovely moment to make a pass at me. There has to be some kind of rule with fraternizing with tenants, right?
I suppose my Father's employees are picking up his habits.
She was a beautiful woman, I could not deny that. But my interests remained elsewhere.
"I have never seen you walk with such purpose." The presence continues beside me as we enter the elevator. She has to take a moment to catch her breath as she tucks a piece of her long hair behind her ear. Slumping against the wall while she glares daggers at me. "I can't believe I have to babysit you of all people."
Offering her a weak shrug. "Nobody told you to tag along."
She scoffs, gathering her hair off of her shoulder while she fans her blouse that sticks to her damp skin. "Well It's not everyday that Jeremy has a date, I wanted to go check it out if someone else was instigating it."
My jaw clenches. My self control is incredible as I manage to not actually roll my eyes at that comment.
A date? Yeah right.
Jeremy going on a date is less of an occurrence than a solar eclipse. It is possibly that his brain struggles to comprehend any romantic affection. Not an affectionate bone in his body.
"Are you sure it's a date?" I stupidly ask, feeling my hands tighten as my gaze turns away with a frustrated breath.
Her ebony brows pinch against the contrast of her pale skin as she perches her hands on her hips. "I mean he didn't say it was but he never tells me anything. Why else would he go catch up with someone? You know him, he barely speaks to anyone."
"And who is this girl again?"
"Nerissa? You know her."
Not a single recollection of this girl, and to be honest I am shocked Jeremy remembered her. I perch my palm onto my chin as a breath escapes me. "Not a clue on who she is."
She scoffs. "You are such a self absorbed jerk."
My shoulders lift in a casual shrug. "I just don't particularly care. Also, who remembers people from high school."
Her lips purse together while she pushes her hair off of her shoulders, "People who peaked?"
The corner of my lip threatens to twitch up before I manage to contain it. "You think Jeremy peaked?"
"Obviously not, but you know what I meet. Plus he thrives away from teenagers." Which was not completely wrong. He was never in the loop of whatever was going on and resembled a brick wall in conversations of events going on in school.
"So." Sofia pipes up, manically rubbing her hands together in order to resemble someone from Lord of the rings. "What exactly is our plan?" She grins in eagerness.
My gaze narrows as I cross my arms over my chest. "We're spying on them, not burning down a building.
Clicking her tongue while she dramatically drops her hands from her hips. "This is a pretty big occasion, and we also need a plan on how we're going to watch them-."
The noise of the elevator interrupts her while a ding rings through my ears and the doors opens.
Both of us go rigid, our heads turning in unison to watch a third figure enter the elevator.
