I sighed, what were we going to do now? My shoulders slumped, now there was no way I was going to make it back home in time to pick out an outfit for tomorrow.

I looked at Senku beside me, his face contorted into an unimpressed expression.

"So... what do you think we should do now?" he asked, cocking his head towards me.

I blinked. "Wha... how should I know? You're the genius."

He exhaled, thinking. Taiju intercepted him with a completely unwanted extra piece of information.

"Enjoy yourselves! I'm going to Yuzuriha's house, I have a coat!"

He said. And with that, he ran out, skipping.

"He's way too happy about that." I grunted in irritation.

Senku rolled his eyes in response, obviously not in the least bothered, "That's just the way he is. We can just sit in the cafe until the rain stops."

My eyes widened in surprise. "I didn't know there was a cafe here."

Senku gently grabbed my shoulders and turned me around, and to my surprise, the cafe was literally right there in front of us.

He snickered as he let my shoulders fall, "Are you blind?"

"It seems that I am," I smiled, and we walked over to the café, with Senku walking casually a few steps behind me.

We sat in the cafe for the next half hour, chatting about who knows what. Mostly about the long journey, but then my mind wandered to the amusement park on Monday.

I didn't notice that I'd drifted off. It was only when Senku pulled me back.

"Earth to y/n? Hello? Is my voice that annoying?" He asked, a slightly offended look on his face before he sighed.

"You're tired. A little pathetic, actually. It's only 6 in the evening."

I snapped to attention and waved my hands in defence, "Oh, no. I just drifted off. I was, uh... thinking about what I'd wear on Monday."

There was a look on his face like he didn't believe me for a second, which was only fair.

"Just.. wear regular clothes? It's a theme park, not a wedding."

"Yeah.."

Eventually, the rain decided to let up enough for the two of us to walk to the bus stop and make our way home without getting soaked, which is what we did. We went our separate ways after getting off the bus. He only lived a few blocks away, but apparently he'd promised to walk his neighbour's dog to make up the money we'd spent booking that dessert place for Yuzuriha's birthday tomorrow.

(the next day)

The day had finally arrived, I thought as I got off the bus and walked to where we needed to meet. Everything needed to be perfect.

Finally, I caught sight of Senku in the distance, leaning against a wall next to a toy shop. His eyes lifted and landed on me, he gave a quick acknowledging smile before standing up straight.

"Hey," he said when I had caught up with him.

"Hi. Taiju not here yet?" I asked.

"Nah, he's running a little late. Not surprising for the oaf. Running late for his own future girlfriend's birthday." He rolled his eyes.

I laughed, typical behaviour of Taiju, I thought.

We waited for about ten minutes before his appearance in our vision was a foregone conclusion. As soon as he saw us, he sprinted over to us and grabbed both of us by the shoulders. Senku promptly pushed his hand away while I laughed.
