Senku POV :

I had a good look around the kitchen and there wasn't a single person there. A confirmation of my hypothesis. This place was totally suspicious.

I mean, sure, I'd thought that before we went in, and y/n acted like a little shrimp. But it wasn't like it was haunted, literally a zero percent chance, because ghosts don't exist, it's just abandoned. So as far as I knew, there weren't any serial killers lurking around the corners.

Taiju had called me back a couple of minutes ago when he'd had a look around the toilets and other seating areas. The idiot had done the whole thing in about thirteen seconds flat. If there had been a serial killer out there, they probably wouldn't have been able to catch him anyway.

What worried me more, though, was the fact that it was taking y/n a ridiculously long time to check the storerooms. We'd been sitting here for about five minutes, which should have been enough time for them to finish the check. Especially given y/n's eagerness to get out of here.

"Any sign of y/n?" I asked Taiju, I forgot to mention that I had asked him to check if y/n was in the toilet or something, but he refused to knock on the door of the women's toilet because he felt it would be disrespectful. It's not as if there was anyone in there to be disrespected, so why bother about it?

But that's how he was.

"No, I'm worried! Do you think they got hurt?" He replied. He looked a little desperate.

"They'd be screaming by now if they were hurt. So no." I replied calmly.

But no harm in checking...right? There was a little bit of doubt that was brewing in the pit of my stomach at the moment. And in view of my bad luck, it would be a good idea to have a look at for the time being.

"Let's have a look anyway, in the storage rooms I mean."

"Okay! Don't worry, y/n! We're coming to rescue you!" He shouted to no one in particular.

"Actually, I'll go. You wait here. If anyone comes in, I don't really want to end up in a cell for snooping around the company's storage facilities."

My decision was that it would be easier if one of us was here. Considering there was still a chance someone could burst in and claim the place was theirs.

I made my way down the side of the building, checking the doors on the way, they were all empty. Where the hell could they have gone?

Feeling slightly deflated, I reached the last door. My hunch had been wrong. But the door wouldn't budge, not a millimetre, not an inch, not a jerk.

I furrowed my brow, confusion and a little fear settling in.

What the hell is this?

I pulled again, no movement.

Shit.

It would hurt them if I called Taiju to knock the door down and y/n was inside. The door would fall on her. But how was I supposed to get this door moving?

Ah. Child's play. Pick the lock, silly me.

I never really carried hairpins or anything like that. But there had to be something somewhere.

Sure enough, in one of the other storage rooms there was a small box of safety pins.

I squatted down and began the process of picking the lock. Each click sent a signal that I'd penetrated a layer. Seconds later I heard a louder click. I was in.

A small cough escaped my lips as I inhaled whatever was in there, and I pushed the door open gently, adjusting my eyes to the darkness.

Detergent fumes? Expired. They were too strong to be even close to in date.
