Sunday arrived as normal, and I was busy as always. I know for a fact that it was not very productive, especially since the exams were just around the corner and I had hardly been revising. Mocks were important. They were more important than finals, in case we needed to put predicted grades on reports before our final grades were released.
Afternoon rolled around. I'd done a fair bit of note-making and looked outside. It was relatively sunny, surprisingly since it had been mercilessly raining for the better half of the previous week. The weather was perfect for a walk. I grabbed my phone, put on my headphones, picked up my keys and leisurely walked out of my front door and down the road to the local park. It was peaceful and calm, with not too many dogs barking or children screaming. It felt lively and vibrant, not at all desolate. I strode at a swift pace, in time to my music, taking in the spring greenery. I was careful to only sit on dry benches. After staring at trees for too long, I decided to go to the sports facilities. I walked past the basketball and badminton court, seeing nothing but shirtless boys (as you would expect). I saw a familiar face when I reached the running track.
"Taiju!" I called out, picking up my pace to jog towards the brown-haired boy. A small smile spread across my lips.
Taiju suddenly halted his running, just in time to catch a glimpse of my face, before promptly changing direction and running straight towards me.
"Y/n! It's good to see you!" He halted a couple feet from me and asked, 'How's it going?'
"Great, enjoying the sun, I assume? You were sprinting really fast. I dunno how you do it." i chuckle, beginning to walk with him.
He laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. "I have to stay strong. If I don't run, I'll end up built like a triangle, but the upside-down kind."
We chatted along the path, and our conversation turned to the summer trip. He was really excited to go on the Ferris wheel and look at the city from above. We also discussed different places to eat and various events.
"I'm going to confess my feelings to Yuzuriha on the wheel. Romantic, huh? i think she'll like it," he asserted, his tone unmistakably gentle, a quality that always emerged when Yuzuriha was mentioned.
Their bond was undeniably heart warming. I was envious of the wholesome nature of their relationship, which would undoubtedly become official as soon as one of them made a move. There was no fear of rejection. They were the perfect pair. I definitely wish I had that. Let me be clear: if anyone is interested in me, they're not interested enough to show it.
I hummed to myself and smiled at him. I was happy for them. "She'll love it. She'll say yes, no doubt."
His grin confirmed his increased confidence, which I was always happy to encourage. The time passed quickly after that, eventually we decided to barge into Senku's house early just to be extra prepared to apply for our ETA's (similar to visa but used in Japan? I googled it idk) totally not to get on his nerves in any way at all.
We stood there grinning at his front door, while Senku stood staring at us from underneath his front bangs with an undoubtedly unimpressed look on his face. We caught him at a pretty bad moment: he was covered in charcoal or something similarly grey and messy, his hair was flayed out even more than normal, and his face looked drained of any colour. Which his pale ass didn't have much of anyway.
"You should both be thanking Mother Nature that I don't have the energy to shove her poisonous plants up both of your asses. You couldn't have picked better timing, could you?"
He sighed, annoyed, and moved aside to let us in. He walked up to his room without a word, and we followed behind, having no reason to explain that we were early.
