"Fleur, so many guys would feel blessed to have a girl like you" Selina said.
"You are my best friend, so of course you'll say that" I scoffed.
"There is nothing wrong with you. You are beautiful and you have such a big, warm heart and no, I'm not just saying this because I'm your best friend" Selina said with loving eyes.
"Thanks Selina for trying to make me feel better. It's hard for me to move on, harder than I had expected. It gets even harder whenever I see him. My heart still aches thinking about the engagement and him being in the arms of another girl" I said as my voice trembled.
Selina rubbed my shoulder and said, "It'll be alright, you'll get passed this. You shouldn't see him anymore, you need to distance yourself from him to begin the healing process" with a worried expression.
She was right, I don't think I would even be able to face him again. I was barely holding my broken heart together and another encounter with him, would shatter it completely.
A couple of days later, I was feeling much better. The results of our exams had been posted and surprisingly Selina had gotten better marks than me. I was really happy for us both, because we both were finally going to graduate! We promised that we would go somewhere together and have a blast before we would start with the job hunts. We deserved a relaxing vacation, preferably to some tropical place. For now, we were both doing our part-time jobs to save money for our trip. The graduation day arrived soon and we were both excited, but also sad. An important and fun chapter of our lives was ending. We wouldn't have as much free time as now once we started working and we wouldn't see all our college friends either.
"You know Seli, I wouldn't have gotten here without you" I said as we stepped out of college.
"I know, because I'm the smarter one" she winked.
I slapped the back of her head and pulled a small box out of my handbag.
"What's that?" she asked with widened eyes.
"Graduation gift for my best friend" I chuckled as I handed her the box.
She took it with an surprised expression and opened the lid.
