It's been a week since the ski trip ,which I would say went surprisingly well.Everyone started to believe our story more and more.
Right now I'm in our locker room ,right after we won yet another game.I'm feeling great.
That is until Nick walks in .
"Sup Woods"-i smack his shoulder.
"How's the bruise "-i point to his lip that is still recovering from the day me and Brandon took care of his attitude.
He grunts in response.
"Great actually,thanks for the worry cap"
"Glad to hear it "-I give him my best fake smile.Nick is a disgrace to the male population .He's the reason why most girls don't dare to trust us .He might've been my friend before but after I heard what happened with Bella ,I lost all respect for him. As did all the other guys in the team.They didn't have a choice really .I forbidded them from ever talking to him again ,unless is was about our games.The asshole deserved it.
After we heard what happened a lot of the other guys tried to make fun of Bella but me and Brandon put a stop to it before someone got hurt.They.They would get hurt .
Just in cue Brandon walks in and smacks his towel on the back of Nick's head.
I laugh.
Brandon is one of my closest friends.After Xander of course.Although before Xander came around me and Brandon were inseparable.A great duo in hockey and an even greater duo in friendship.Nothing happened I guess,we just grew apart.He found a group of people that were more ..him .And I found a group of people that were more me.
We're still pretty close.
"Can't believe we won again Cap"-Brandon slaps my back.
"We make a great team"-he smiles genuinely.
"That we do ,my friend "-i shake his hand before pulling him in for a side hug.
"You call that a hug?"-Xander walks in .
"Come on man ,give me some love"-he walks over to us and wraps both of us into a tight group hug.
This is my safe space.I loved my friends with everything in me.And I would do anything to protect them.Anytime some bullshit would happen at home I knew I could just give them a call and they would be right at my doorstep ,ready to distract me from everything.
Our moment is ruined by a loud cough.
We separate and I don't believe my eyes when I turn around and see who's standing in front of me.Evan.My childhood best friend .The person who knew all my darkest secrets.The person who tormented my girl all those years in middle school.Sure I played a part In it but he...he always took it to another level of craziness.
And now he's going to pay.
"Cap ,you don't look to happy to see me "-he taunts.
"That's fine I'm sure someone else will be "-I know exactly who he's taking about.Jade.
I can't control myself.In just a few seconds I'm pushing him against the wall ,my hand gripping his shirt.
I realised why he was here .His dad was coaching our team ,which means he's probably joining the team.And if his dad finds out about me hurting him I'm surely of the team .But I couldn't care less.Jade is more important.He went to a different school for years .Why the sudden chance of heart now?
"Listen pal"-I say still holding a hem of his shirt .
"I don't give two shits about you or about what your dad is gonna do about this"
"But if you mess with her ,that's when I care "
"If I hear one complain about you from her mouth I swear to God I'll make sure you're six feet under myself"-I warn him ,still not letting him go.
"Understood?"
Fear flashes his eyes.Good.He should be scared.
"Understood "-he finally answers.
"Good"-I let go of him.
"So you two a thing now huh?"-he asks ,smiling .
This motherfucker has a death wish.
"You wanna die ?"-I ask him.
"Depends on my mood of the day"-he chuckles.
"And yes we're together,so you better stay the hell away from her"
"I can't promise anything Jamesy"-I'm gonna kill him .
I'm about to jump at him again but Brandon and Xander both hold me back .They're gonna need to be doing that a lot if this guy plans to stay here .
I just hope Jade hadn't found out yet.
Just as if she heard my thoughts ,Jade knocks on the door on the sideway where it leads to our locker room.
She does know she can't be here right?
"Jade ,dearest you can't be in here honey!"-i yell ,hoping my voice sounds jolly and doesn't betray me.
"Shut up ,i wanted to congratulate you guys ,im being nice "-i hear her muffled voice coming from the other side of the door.
"Uhmm now is not the time Jade ,we're not decent "-Brandon tries to help .
"Oh ,um okay"-I can imagine her close her eyes even if she's outside.
"Avery wanted to tell you guys that we're going to Noah's bar later to celebrate "-she informs us.
"That sounds great honey!"-i say ,and Evan rolls his eyes.The urge to punch him grows .
"Okay,i'll leave you guys alone ,congrats on your win"-Jade responds and after a few seconds i hear her footsteps .
Phew !That was close.
