//Marisa//

I walked down the familiar streets with my luggage in tow. No matter what I was not getting rid of this. I had Joe (my guitar) strapped on my shoulder. My grandfather gave me this the day before he died and I was never letting it go.

He was the only one that truly cared for me and it hurt me bad the day he died. I cried until I couldn't anymore.

My grandmother was like my parents and didn't really give a damn about me. So I didn't give a damn about them. I'm glad they kicked me out during the summer time because at least I won't end up dying. I usually slept at the local homeless shelter on a cot and kept to myself. I'm just the odd girl to them that doesn't say much and has weird clothing.

I sing at a small coffee shop just for the entertainment. They don't pay much but at least I can buy me some food and keep a little money in my pocket. I got the occasional offers from guys to go back to their places but I knew what they wanted and I wasn't giving it up unless I wanted too. I usually didn't want too.

If someone got to familiar I punched them and that usually puts my job in jeopardy but luckily my boss likes my voice. So score for me!
I was going there now to perform. I saw the 'Turn tables' coffee shop come into view. I walked a little longer and then into the coffee shop. I said 'hello' to the four people there and my boss Angie. I took my place on the stool in front of the microphone and sat on the stool.
I left my luggage beside me and turned my guitar so I could play it. Ugh, the only thing that I hated about this job was that everyone's eyes were on me but I never got nervous.
"The first song is 'Ho hey' by The Lumineers" I said not waiting for a response. I started to sing.

When I was finished I got a few claps as usual. I did a five song set and when i was done Angie paid me my 15 bucks. I worked every Thursday,Friday, and Saturday. Today was Friday. I also did five different songs each day. The next four songs was 'We found love'-Rihanna, 'Somebody that I used to know'-Goyte, 'Hey Jude'-The Beatles, We are young-Fun. ft Janelle Monae

When I was done I got more round of applause and I smiled. I got off the stool and gathered my things. I went over to Angie smiling. I leaned over the counter.
"You did a great job today Marisa as usual you have a beautiful voice." Angie was cleaning out a cup.

"Thanks but you're to nice. My voice isn't that great. I just need this job to get by." I honestly said. She knew about my predicament.

"As always you can stay with me Marisa" Angie always offered me a place but she had three kids of her own and her husband had passed awhile back. I didn't want to be a burden.
"You know that I won't except Angie" I told her as I positioned my guitar strap on my shoulder.
She sighed but i knew it was out of worry and understanding. "Well since you won't except my offer at least find a place to stay Marisa. I don't want you out here on these streets with 'them'" Them being vampires.
"I know and I will try to find a place." I reassured her. Angie's face softened.
"Thank you and here's your money." she pulled out money from her pocket and handed it to me.
"Thanks Angie" I told her meaning it.
"No problem now get home before the sun goes down." she whispered the last few words. I nodded my head and left out the coffee shop.

I proceeded to take the long walk to the shelter. I was humming to myself when a flyer on a light pole came into view. It looked interesting so I walked closer to it. I pulled it off and read it. Need a place to stay, check. The flyer read, well come to West Borrow Lane and you will be guaranteed a room for a small price. That confused me was it free or not. Also West Borrow Lane was over in the part of town where the vampires stayed.

Well vampires lived in the more rich part of town and humans lived in the more middle class part. Yes, we've been split for years. Vampires could come out in the sunlight but it's against the law for them too unless they were an actual political figure like the president and thankfully our president was human. This flyer was a little sketchy and didn't provide a lot of information. Since I'm a rebel and vampires didn't scare me I was going to be the girl in the scary movies that went to check it out.
I just might be rooming with a vampire.

That night I went back to the shelter and lay on my cot in the corner. I put my the flyer in my suitcase and left it there. I was going have to go without a shower tomorrow because the shelter showers are horrible. I fell asleep and dreamed that things would hopefully work out tomorrow even if it was a vampire that I may be living with.
