HARRY WAS THE NEW TALK OF THE SCHOOL, AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY.
everyone was saying how he was a cheater and didn't deserve to compete, and draco seemed to be getting a lot of joy from this.
even shinobu, mitsuri and the others had been talking about it, though a few of them didn't jump on the hate train harry was currently experiencing.
most of your group didn't, but zenitsu was mad at harry being able to get attention from girls, and inosuke was just mad he couldn't fight.
you couldn't care less, honestly. it didn't bother you, harry can do what he wants.
you hadn't spoken with either boy in a while, though any conversation with hermione showed tensions were high between harry and ron. ron was clearly jealous of the attention harry was getting.
it didn't take long for the school to take the hatred towards harry a step further, all wearing badges that switched from 'cedric diggory' in bright yellow, to 'potter stinks' in a putrid shade of green.
you found the badges quite unappealing, though zenitsu happily wore one, puffing his chest out whenever harry walked passed. tanjiro had scolded him a variety of times, but zenitsu was adamant it should of been him. genya thought he was being an idiot.
you and genya currently sit in a grassy corner of the courtyard, you cloud gazing while genya sketches.
"why so tense, potter?"
the two of you share a deadpan glance at draco's voice yet again pulling you from your relaxation.
of course, draco had likely been the one to create these badges, flaunting his own at every moment.
"my father and i have a bet, you see. i don't think you're gonna last 10 minutes in this tournament. he disagrees. he thinks you won't last five"
genya rolls his eyes, "he's such a child"
"i don't give a damn what your father thinks, malfoy" harry walks up, shoving him.
"oh, crap" genya murmurs.
"he's vile and cruel. and you're just pathetic"
"pathetic?" draco scoffs, taking out his wand before being interrupted, "oh, no you don't, sonny!"
you blink as moody sends a spell at draco, turning him into a little white ferret. genya lets out a slight gasp.
"is that even allowed?"
"i'll teach you to curse someone when their back is turned!" moody fumes, limping over, "you stinking, cowardly, scummy!" with each word moody raises draco up and down with his wand.
you and genya share a look, genya snickering slightly.
"professor moody!" mcgonagall's voice intercepts, "what-what are you doing?" she questions.
"teaching."
"is that a..? is that a student?" she asks in disbelief.
"technically, it's a ferret"
moody shoves ferret draco down crabbe's pants, you frown slightly.
"ugh.. yuck" genya grimaces.
"stand still! stand still!"
mcgonagall steps forward, finally turning draco back into a human.
he looked pretty traumatised, stepping back.
"my father will hear about this!"
moody chases after him, "is that a threat?"
"professor moody!"
moody chases draco around the tree, "is that a threat?!"
"professor!"
draco narrowly escapes.
"i could tell you stories about your father that would curl even your greasy hair, boy!"
genya snorts at the comment.
"alastor!"
"it doesn't end here!"
"alastor. we never use transfiguration as a punishment" mcgonagall scolds firmly.
"surely dumbledore told you that"
"he might've mentioned it"
"well, you will do well to remember it"
mcgonagall walks off, shooing the students away.
you shake your head, returning to cloud gazing instantly.
