Unwanted Hero

Five.

I groaned as I woke up. My head pounded and the world was spinning. This was a bad fucking hangover. At least I could stay in bed.

Shit, school!

Oh. Fuck my life. I must have been so out cold I slept through my alarm.

As I tried to open my eyes I felt the sun's heat shining in from the window and hitting my face. Sighing, I leaned over and picked up my phone next to me on the floor.

It had two hundred or so likes, and some of the comments read:

'What an emo faggot!'

'Why doesn't he kill himself?'

'Kai if you're reading this- DO US ALL A FAVOUR AND DRINK SOME FUCKING BLEACH!!!!!!'

I thew my phone back like it had given me an electric shock. What the fuck...?

All I did was stick up for Ashley. She is as much of a victim as I am.

Maybe everyone's right. I am worthless. I'm not going to school today, there's no point.

Hold on, I'm giving them what they want. They want to break me. Well, they've done a pretty good job.

Searching through my dazed brain, I considered school.

If my family knew I'd bunked, they'd know something was wrong.

Fuck it, I thought, standing up and shaking my head. I got changed and sprayed myself with a little bit of deodorant.

Apart from that, I couldn't be bothered to do any other getting ready. I grabbed the vodka from under my bed and took a few mouthfuls before hiding it again.

I picked up my phone and backpack. The time was eight-fifty. I had ten minutes to make a twenty minute journey.

Great.

As I set off walking down the road, I felt the vodka kick in and I stumbled a little. At least something will get me through the day.

"Shut up! You're not really coming down are you?" I heard a voice. I looked over and a bunch of the popular girls were walking opposite me and they were on the phone.

There was no sign of Ashley.

"Guys, Adrianna is coming down to stay with me! She's bringing Felix too!" Sierra gushed.

Adrianna used to be the most popular girl in school, but she got a boyfriend, Felix, and moved to Axton before senior year.

Felix used to be the only one who was honestly nice to me. He was bullied as well, and everyone was amazed when he started dating Adrianna.

It makes me wonder if I could ever date Ashley. Maybe I could. Maybe.

In Felix's case, it probably helps that he looks like Andy Biersack.

Anyway, if Felix visits our town again hopefully I could talk to him for a while. I'd forgotten what it felt like for someone to be nice to me.
