he leaned towards the table and
placed his hand
carefully
on top of hers.

she shot him a quick look,
and he nodded simply.

--- him ---

once she reached the bathroom,
thoughts clouded her mind.

   what was she doing?
why was she with him again?
   what had gotten into her?

she rested her hands on either side of the sink and stared blankly in the mirror.

she could feel herself starting to fade away.
her strong walls that she had built after he destroyed them.
he was taking her down.
again.

but why?
why did she let this happen
   again,
when for the past few years she had sworn to
never make the same mistake again?

a hand lay on her shoulder.
the blonde that was once upon a time her best friend stood there, a face that radiated kindness and comfort.

"don't overthink it, sweetie. overthinking is what will destroy you, not him."

she nodded in return, knowing that she couldn't say anything.
they had left them years ago without a word, and for that she didn't know what to say at all.

--- him ---

"make someone smile whenever you can, you never know, you might just make their day a little better."
