We continued to walk side-by-side with one another, with Delfine following behind us, also keeping a look out, in hopes to find this damn pearl and finally end the adventure so I can rest, for once. While walking, though, it wasn't silent or whatever like I was used to between the two of us. We were actually having small talk with one another, something I've always hated and proclaimed to be bad at, but...with him? It wasn't so bad. Not yet, anyway.

"...So there was a time that I was talking to Pomni about the lake out in the back of the circus," Jax started. "I told her that if she reached the bottom of the lake, that was her ticket to escape this circus, but I warned her how 'nobody has made it to the bottom, however, because of traps Caine puts into that lake to prevent escape' or whatever. I dunno exactly what I told her, but she took the bait instantly. She dived down into the lake, hoping and craving for some sort of exit. But, of course, there was none and she was so mad when she popped her head back up above sea level. It was priceless!"

"That's so mean," I huffed and sharply glared at him. "If you did that to me, I would've killed you."

"Ha! I would love to see you try, doll face. Besides, Pomni did try to kill me. Only to fail miserably and trigger another one of my oh-so-favorite pranks."

"Which is...?"

He grins. "The water bucket prank. She tried chasing after me, and she tripped over the wire that made ice cold water fall on top of her head. Oh...you should've seen her face. She was furious. Of course, I didn't let that stop me from doing one last evil thing to her."

"You are cruel," I muttered under my breath as I glared at him, only to be met with his signature smirk.

He didn't seem to give my little quip the time of day as he continued explaining this elaborate prank to me, with a grin on his face. "She still, even while soaking wet, chased after me, hoping to give herself some sort of justice." His voice was laced with fake sympathy as he spoke, even though I could still hear the smugness in his tone. "However, she underestimated me once more. I ran outside of the circus once again, except it was towards the front of the circus, close to where the carnival area is. Since Pomni was pretty slow at running, while I was outside, I set up one last prank."

"You don't know when to quit, do you?"

"Nope. Anyway, I put a bucket of honey on a tree branch, strapping it to that tree with the trip-wire, of course. But guess what the bucket of honey was next to?"

"Don't you dare say a beehive..."

"Well, you're correct! It was a beehive."

"Poor Pomni..." My eyes were still glaring him as we walked, but...I couldn't stop the smile from spreading across my face as I thought about how funny this entire situation probably would've been to witness.

"Pomni found me chilling underneath the tree, obviously with the bucket of honey strapped onto the branch next to a beehive. She tripped underneath the wire, per usual, and a bunch of honey came splashing onto her."

"Wait...how did you get the honey, anyway?"

He shrugged. "I just asked Caine for it. He can make anything appear out of thin air, after all. He gave the honey to me, no questions asked."

"That's concerning."

"Let me finish my story, then we can hear your concerns later," He sighed. "So, the bucket of honey fell on top of her and the bees were obviously interested and started surrounding Pomni. It was--" He started laughing. "Hilarious! God, I wish you were trapped in this circus sooner so you could've seen it."
