"The watchtower?" I asked incredulously, "you want me to break into the watchtower?"
"Well yes, I do, I want to know the layout, and I want to know their security." He informed me, as if it was perfectly sane to ask a super villain to break into the superheroes base of operations.
"And how, pray tell, do you expect me to get in there?" I asked him.
"Easy, using technology I stole from the future, I'm going to disguise you as a member of the league." He explained.
"And which member would that be?" I asked him.
"Tigress, though technically she is a member of the Young Justice team, she has the clearance necessary to get in, also I know she's currently out of town so she won't be there." He told me.
"How do you even know that?" I questioned.
He raised an eyebrow, "I have my ways."
So that was how, an hour later I ended up sticking my eyeball in a sensor in some abandoned alleyway, looking like some superhero I had never heard of.
"Tigress B-0-7." A robotic voice announced, and suddenly I was somewhere I had never been before.
I looked around, taking in my surroundings, there was a wall of monitors up above me, and all around there were windows looking out into space, I stood for a moment, eyes wide, taking it all in, until someone caught my attention.
"Artemis, hey! I thought you were out of town." I looked over and saw a guy I recognised as Nightwing talking to me.
Artemis? As in Wally's ex-girlfriend? Had to be a different one, but yet it would make sense, they lived in different cities, went to different schools, but yet somehow they met, and with Wally being the Flash it would make sense that he would've had a superhero girlfriend. And then there was me, the super villain girlfriend, awesome.
I turned to the guy who was talking to me,
"Uh yeah I'm back early, what's up?" I asked him.
He shrugged, "Eh not much just monitor duty, you seen Wally recently, you know, since the breakup?" He asked me.
"Uh, no yeah I haven't." I replied. Guess that answered that question. I had to wonder though, who was this guy? He seemed familiar, like i'd met him before. I walked a little closer to him and scrutinised his features, ah ha! Wally's friend, Dick, I thought, best to leave that one alone though.
"Alright, well I've gotta go, things to do you know." I said and walked off, intent on exploring and such. I didn't get far before I ran into someone else, just my luck that it was Kid Flash. I had put some thought into that one and deduced that he must be Bart Allen, Wally's cousin, there was more to the story, I was sure, but from what I could tell he took up the mantle after Wally became the Flash. I wasn't sure about their relationship, just what Wally had told me about him being a pain in the ass.
"Hey Tigress." He said to me.
"Hi Kid Flash." I returned.
He gave me a weird look, "Huh, you never call me that, but then again you have been pretty weird since you dumped Wally, eh, whatever." He said.
"Uh, yeah, sorry Bart." I said, crossing my fingers behind my back hoping that my assumption was correct.
"Fine, fine, it's all crash." He said.
What did crash mean? I'd have to ask Wally sometime.
"Yeah sure, bye Bart." I said, quickly walking away.
I wondered if everyone knew everyone's secret identities up here, and if so what were you supposed to address them with? And did heroes ever just walk around without masks on? All good questions I would like answered. I spent awhile walking around the watchtower, taking in the layout and the security as the professor had instructed me to do. I was just about to leave when I ran into, and I mean literally ran into, the last person I had wanted to see here.
"Whoops, hey Wally, sorry I didn't see you there." I said backing up.
"Artemis, hey, uh yeah it's okay, so uh how are you doing?" He asked me.
I shrugged, "um okay I guess."
He shuffled a bit,
"Well alright, I'm just gonna go now." He said and started to walk off, until he bumped into the worst possible person;
The real Artemis.
