Saving Him

The next morning I woke up and did my usual routine; shower, get dressed, makeup, etc.. Cole had left last night because he didn't want to be around Rochelle too much just in case she did try anything. After I was finished getting ready, I went down stairs and saw Jack sitting at the table by himself eating a bowl of cereal. Ever since the whole ordeal or Cole and his brother, I haven't really said anything to him.

I awkwardly moved through the kitchen, grabbing a bowl and spoon. All while doing this, I could feel Jack's eyes on me with every move I made. When I turned around he looked away as if he hadn't been watching me the whole time.

I then sat across from him and began pouring in the cereal and milk. "What are you doing today?" Jack asks, taking me a bit by surprise.

I shrug. "Not sure," Good job, Diana. Keep the conversation short and he will leave you alone.

"Will you go to the store with me today?" He asks, a hopeful look is in his eyes.

I raise my eyebrow in question. "You want me," I point my spoon at myself, "to go with you?" I question, now pointing my spoon at him.

He chuckles and nods, wiping away the drop of milk I had splashed on him by moving my spoon so fast towards him. "That's what I said,"

"Why?"

"Well it's just me and you today that are home. Jake is gone, your dad is gone." He informs me.

I sigh. "Fine," Did I actually just agree to go with Jack...

He stands up and pushes his chair in. "Then let's go,"

I shake my head. "I haven't finished my cereal,"

Jack rolls his eyes. "I'll buy you a doughnut or something. Come on,"

I groan and get up, then follow him out the door and to the car. Right as we pull out of the driveway, I thought I should text Cole to tell him where I'm going. Now typically I wouldn't do this but this is Jack we're talking about.

Going with Jack to the store, just thought I'd let u know. Be back later!

A few minutes later we pull up to a store. I look around and notice that we're the only car here besides one more.

Oh my God.

Not again.

"Jack.." I look at him accusingly.

He gulped. "I'm sorry, Diana but they paid me and Cole just isn't good enough for you. He's not a good guy."

"You are freaking crazy!" I unbuckle my seat belt and dash out of the car and start running as fast as I could across the deserted parking lot. I looked behind my should for a moment and saw a couple of guys running after me.

I just can't catch a break, I swear...

As I keep on running down the road that no one seems to be on today, I actually see a small gas station not too far from me. The guys behind me are catching up and that's when I push myself to go as fast as I can towards the gas station.

I manage to not run into the gas station door, surprisingly, and hide behind the beef jerky... This smelled amazing and made me extremely hungry. I looked over the shelves that held items of different candies and such, and saw the two guys on the other side of the glass door looking in.

One of them got a phone call and I could see a smirk appear on his face. Suddenly they both turned to go back the way they came.

Now would be a great idea to call Cole so I reached into my pocket to grab my phone.. If only my phone was in there. I patted all around myself, searching for my phone. But no luck.

Then it dawned on me.

They have my phone.
