seven || love hasn't won yet

they say love won the other day when,
the court ruled that gay couples could marry legally.
yet here i am typing this up,
feeling more unloved than ever.

maybe they helped a percentage of the unloved,
yet they ignore the hollowed cries of others.
whose pleas for help are taunted and mocked,
and are called selfish when they finally give up.

so sure, maybe love won in some ways,
but what about the others who believe differently?
to those who think that marriage is sacred to a man and a woman,
and are now the ones hated for their beliefs.

you say love won,
but i think the world is more hateful now.
society feeds blatant lies,
the reckless become more so with themselves.

the world is filled with opinionated hypocrites,
who scorn others who believe in different things.
yet they feel attacked and become defensive,
when it's their own beliefs that receive the fire.

so perhaps love won in some ways,
in other ways it's taken a step back.
i think my final point is,
to keep an open mind would help love really win.
