Luke's POV(Picture is Morgan)
"See ya!" I say as I leave the hospital. A few of the nurses reply. I pull out my phone to check the time; 2:42. I think I'll go pick up Jace. I wonder what happened with Sarah a few days ago? I tried to ask Jace but he just said they talked about 'stuff'. Whatever it was, I hope it went well. They talked for a good half an hour.
It doesn't take me long to get to the school and park in my normal spot. I turn on the radio and jam out, waiting for Jace. I notice the buses leave and assume that it's a bit past three. Jace should get out soon. A few minutes later, he's still not out. I check the time; 3:15. I don't think he mentioned anything after school but I'll give him half an hour, then I'll go in to find him. I start dancing along to 'Eye of The Tiger'.
Jace doesn't come out until 3:32. I see his mouth quirk up into a small smile when he sees me rockin' out. I turn down the music as he hops in. "Hello, Sweet-cheeks," I greet him.
"Hey, we've got to talk," he says and I blink. Uh-oh.
"Um, what do we need to talk about?" I say hesitantly as I start to drive.
"Not in the car though. I need to talk to your Ma(Luke's mom) first and then, depending on how that goes, we might need to talk to my Moms (Jace's moms)," he says, pulling out his phone. What is going through his head? Why does he need to talk to all the moms? I'm kind of scared. What if he wants to break up with me? No; why would he need to talk to my mom for that?
"Um, okay. . ." I trail off, confused and worried. I think he notices because he smiles a little and leans over, giving me a kiss on the cheek.
"Don't worry; it's nothing too bad," he tries to reassure. 'Nothing too bad'? That implies that it is a little bit bad. In the corner of my eye I see him put the phone to his ear, and he turns down the music to a whisper. "Hey, Ma, it's Jace. If you could call back soon that'd be great. I believe I'll need your legal skills. Love you and talk to you later," he says to, I assume, the answering machine.
"She didn't answer?" I ask, trying to sound casual.
"Nope. I'll have to talk to her later. I forget, does she check her voicemail on the home-phone?" He asks.
"Not too often. You might have to call her back later," I answer. He hums, thinking.
"Okay, if she doesn't call back I'll call her again," he decides as we pull into our parking spot. Nervously, I follow Jace to our apartment. Seriously, what does he want to talk about? Did I do something? I don't remember doing something. He sets his stuff down, and I do the same. He takes his hair down and sits on the couch. I sit down next to him and he turns to me, crossing his legs. I angle the top half of my body towards him, draping my arm on the back of the couch.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" I ask, sounding calmer than I actually am. Now he looks nervous. He messes with his fingers, looking down. He takes a deep breath, looking up at me. For a moment I feel a small surge of warmth in my heart when he meets my eyes. I always remember how he'd look away every time I'd look at him. I don't care how many years past; it still makes me happy that he isn't too afraid too meet my eyes.
"I want to talkaboutadoption," he rushes out, forming the last three words into one. I blink surprised.
"A. . .Adoption?" I ask, kind of stunned. He bites his lip and nods. "Um. . .Okay, shoot," I say, a little relieved but still worried.
"Well, it's Sarah. She's a foster kid and she's probably going to be thrown back into to the system. She is also going to file a case against her foster dad at the time, because she came out to him and he was abusive towards her. She doesn't want to go back because this is her seventh home and she doesn't want to leave. She has friends, a life, and a crush here. I want her to be able to stay without worrying about being thrown out or abused," he explains, sounding like he'd rehearsed it a thousand times and he probably did. I nod my head, weighing up all the things he just brought up. Wow, that's a lot to digest. I feel Jace fidgeting as I think.
"Ooookay. . .I'm not too sure about a full blown adoption." I hold up my hand when he opens his mouth to protest. "But we can foster her and see how it goes from there. I know it's not exactly what you wanted, but what do you think?" I expect him to look crushed, but he actually looks happy.
"Okay and once Sarah grows on you, like she does to many, we can adopt her," he says grinning. I smile.
"Okay, don't get ahead of yourself," I tease. "So, what do you need Ma and the Moms for?" I ask.
"I wanted to know if Ma could be Sarah's lawyer and I wanted to discuss the adoption, or now fostering agreement, with both set of parents. Speaking of which, we should probably call Ma again now."
((A Few Calls Later))
I lay down on the bed with a huff, resting my arms out and patting a spot next to me. Jace plops down and lays his head on my arm.
"Today has been eventful," I say and he smiles, nodding.
"I'm glad everything went well with our parents," he says, pulling the coves over us.
"I knew it would. Ma wouldn't refuse you when you still ask so little of her. She's happy to help," I tell him. He gets a little shy and hides a bit under the covers and against me chest, his black hair tickling my sicking. I rub his back with a smile. "Mom (Janet) and Mum (Max) definitely wouldn't mind. Do you you know when Sarah will go to court?" I ask. I feel him shrug and he peeks out.
"C.P.S. is going to start investigating and she should be pulled out of that house. We need to offer to foster her soon," he explains.
"Will she be fine until then?" I ask.
"I think and hope so. Sarah's strong and I believe she can last a few more days. From the sounds of it, this is the first time he physically abused her so I hope he doesn't make a habit of it," he says, sounding more worried with each word.
"Okay, enough of this serious talk. It's bed time. Let's snuggle and go to sleep," I say, turning on my side, pulling him closer, wrapping my arms around him.
"I can get behind that," he says.
"I can get behind you," I murmur seductively. He giggles.
"Down boy; as you said, it's bed time," he murmurs, sounding sleepy. I chuckle.
"Yes, Master," I whisper and pull him as close as I can, without making him uncomfortable, and relax. He chuckles quietly as he starts to drift off. Soon, we are both asleep.

A/N:
Yay! Their going to try to foster Sarah! But will they? Will they adopt her? Or will something happen before they can? Hehehe. I guess you'll just have to wait. Bye-Bye!
