Jace's POV

"Have a good day." Luke says giving me a peck on the lips.

"You too and be quick before you're late." I say getting out of the car. He'll be cutting it close all because he refused to let me walk when he could drop me off before he left though I told him I'd be fine. I'm walking home anyway so, why can't I walk there too. With him still being in the ICU with unpredictable hours he gets the car so he can be there on a moments notice. He waves as at me not seeming worried at all that he has to be at work in twenty when he has a fifteen minute drive. I tap at my watch with a raise eyebrow. He laughs before finally pulling away. I sigh before going in.

Once in my classroom I set my things in their spot before getting ready for my classes. It's still before anyone from my first period (A/N: Jace's class info = seven class periods in a day, 45 minutes long, 6 periods are freshman, 1 period seniors. Just to clarify for everyone) comes in when there's a light knock at my door. My heart stutters in unease when I see Matt standing in the doorway.

"Matt? Good morning, how can I help you?" I ask, pausing in my preparations.

"Oh, I just wanted to say good morning and to give you these." He says before walking forward and revealing a bouquet from behind his back. My eyes widen upon seeing the flowers.

"Matt-"

"I don't know what flower is you're favorite yet or if you even like flowers so, I got small bouquet of ones that match your eyes." He says happily.

"Matt, I'm sorry, but I can't accept these." I say feeling bad as his smile turns to a pout.

"Why not?" He asks.

"Because I'd feel bad about taking things from you when I can't reciprocate the emotions you put into them." I say and it takes him a second before he replies.

"I still want you to have them. Even if you're feelings aren't the same I'm doing this in the hopes that they'll change." He answers, a determined look in his eyes.

"That's another reason I can't take them. I can't get your hopes up. It's cruel." I tell him. He's about to reply when my phone rings. I glance at it and back at him.

"Go ahead." He smiles.

"Sorry." I say and turn away to answer my phone.

When I turn back after the call, a concerned parent, Matt is gone. On my desk are the blue and grey flowers with a note telling me to have a good day. I pick them up with a sigh and hold them over my waste basket. With another sigh I turn and place them in a drawer instead. I'll give them back at the end of the day.

...

That's the plan. Except, Matt rushes out of the class after the bell despite the fact that I'd asked him to stay after at the start. I sigh in the empty class. I clean up my class and pack up my things. Lastly, I grab the flowers and start my trek home. On the way I pull out my phone.

"Hey, what's up?" Jonas asks sounding a bit out of breath.

"Is this a bad time?" I ask.

"No! I was just helping Nat pack all her sex toys." I choke. "Just kidding. God, I wish I could see your face." He laughs.

"Not funny!" I whine. "I could've choked and died!" I say dramatically.

"Yeah right. You're engaged to Luke. I know you won't choke and die so easily." He says.

"Jonas!" My cheeks turn red as he laughs on the other end.

"For someone in a relationship that goes at each other like rabbits you're so innocent. It's adorable." He cackles.
