Part 4

Mini's POV

I slowly crept into my house which thankfully the lights were off, which meant he was asleep. I haven't been entirely honest, one of the biggest reasons I've avoided Tyler is because my dad has been drinking lately. Tyler is the only one who always seems to know what's going on with me so I have to stay away, my mom just left or that's at least what I was told. So I'm alone with my dad, he's not the best person when he's drunk but I know he doesn't mean it at least I hoped he didn't.

"What are you doing here so late?" I flinched as his voice came from right behind me.

"I- I had to finish a project at school so I didn't fail." I stuttered as he walked closer to me.

"I don't believe you, where were you really?" I backed up slightly.

"I'm telling the truth I swear I was finishing a project." I replied stepping back further hitting the wall behind me as the alcohol on his breath suffocated me.

"No you were trying to leave me just like your sorry excuse of a mother!" He shouted and I looked up at him in shock.

"She wasn't a sorry excuse of a mom you're a sorry excuse for a father!" I instantly covered my mouth in shock as I watched his eyes flash with anger.

"I-I'm sorry I didn't mean it!" I backed up further into the wall begging that he wouldn't kill me.

"You're going to be!" His hands came up around my neck and shoved me up against the wall before punching me hard in the stomach.

I cried out in pain as he continued to attack me, I could no longer breathe but he finally stopped when one of our neighbors came over to see what was going on. Of course my dad played it off that he was watching a movie while I was at a friend's, he didn't even seem drunk. I took that as my chance and scrambled upstairs to my room locking the door and curling up on my bed, he's never gone this far. I now had a purple bruise on the right side of my face and my abdomen but luckily it was hidden by my hair and shirt, it just hurt to touch. I laid on my bed and just prayed that I didn't have to face him before school tomorrow I don't think I would last another beating like that.

-The next morning-

I got dressed fast and grabbed my things for school before looking out the window, it was raining but it gave me a good reason to wear a hoodie. Slipping on my old hoodie that Tyler gave me when we were friends in middle school, which I was surprised, still fit. I then climbed out onto the roof under my window before climbing down and heading to school where I met Brock, Delirious and Raelynn at the front steps.

"Hey Mini what's up?" Delirious asked and I shrugged smiling like nothing happened yesterday.

"Nothing much what are you up to?" I asked ruffling his hair.

"We were waiting for you." He replied swatting my hand away annoyed.

"Oh then where are we going to go today, the library?" I asked and Raelynn nodded sticking her thumbs up tiredly.

We always had study periods for our first two classes, so we would find a different place to study or rather sleep in the mornings. I flinched and looked away as Tyler and the crew came around the corner and we quickly left to walk to the library.

"Hey Brock!" Our group stopped as Tyler called out but both Delirious and I continued walking.

"We'll wait for you guys there!" Delirious called to them as we turned the corner.

"You know you can't avoid him forever right?" He said to me as we walked down the stairs.

"I don't have to just until I get out of high school which is soon, then I can just move away." I replied and he sighed.
