Amy blinked. Treason? Anyone suspected of treason or of just being an accomplice to treason was immediately arrested. Authorities didn't care too much if there were even a small chance the suspect was innocent.

Wait a minute. Amy paused, looking the hedgehog up and down. He looked only slightly threatening depending on his expression. How could he have possibly committed treason? There was just no way.

But he looked serious, which was what made her take a step back to think. She turned and eased herself down onto a fallen tree, and she just thought, staring into the forest.

Shadow leaned against a tree and crossed his arms. He was getting anxious. They needed to get moving if they were to avoid being found again. At this point the knights would have started retracing their steps after having lost them.

He sighed and looked over to the girl that he ran into. He felt guilty about pulling her into this. But if anything, after being seen with him her best chance was to disappear.

The pink hedgehog stood up and faced Shadow. "Explain. Everything, right now. Or I'll take my chances," she said.

Shadow scowled and growled in frustration. "I don't have time for that right now!"

"Make time," The girl growled back. She didn't like being pushed around. And if this guy was going to expect that she would just follow him blindly he was hella wrong.

His red eyes stared at her for a long time before he finally sighed in frustration and faced her. "Look, I can't explain it all. But I can tell you a little bit." She crossed her arms with a high level of attitude, but didn't comment and waited for him to continue.

"You ever heard of the name Shadow before?" He asked.

She blinked. She hadn't. But she never kept up with the news that got around in town and everything. The town usually stayed out of the things going on around them. It never really involved them or even anyone they knew so no one cared. When the she didn't answer, Shadow continued his explanation. "It's usually a very infamous name. Your town is small so I'm not entirely surprised that you don't know." He knelt down to the dirt. "An epidemic has been hitting major towns. One where people have hallucinations, and fevers. The kingdom has been giving them a supposed 'cure' for the illness. However, if someone were to say, behave out of line. They suddenly have it again."

He began drawing circles in the dirt, and Amy knelt down curiously beside him to watch. "Shadow found out that it had been a magical illness. One that could be easily rid of with a simple spell." He looked up into Amy's eyes. "One that very few people in the kingdom know of. Save those whom are high in command or money."

Amy narrowed her eyes. "You really expect me to believe that this illness is something of magic? It's not uncommon for a sickness such as this to spread. I would know. I'm a healer."

"Has anything you've tried worked on these people?" Shadow countered.

She shrugged her shoulders and shook her head in denial. "So what? It's a different strain. I only have to find a new medicine."

"How's that been going?"

"Fine until you barged in and scattered my herbs and roots everywhere!" She snapped.

Shadow stood up and checked the trail for any signs of people approaching. "Wouldn't have made a difference anyway. Something's going on in the kingdom and I intend to find out."

"Well, Shadow, I want nothing to do with your little suicide mission. You're just a conspiracy theorist just like any other who's paranoid and suspicious about everything he hears or sees," Amy said. She brushed the dirt off of her dress and prepared to find her way back home.

Shadow grabbed her arm and turned her to face him. "You don't get it." He pulled the collar of his shirt down to reveal a sickening gash across his abdomen traveling up almost to his shoulder. "When I began asking questions, a wizard gave me this."

Amy gagged, feeling sick. He hadn't treated it yet, and it looked ghastly. "So what? They probably did that to capture you. You have been accused of treason, after all."

"Then why have I been having nightmares? Hallucinations?" Shadow asked.

"If that were true then you wouldn't be standing here right now! You wouldn't be feeling so rational!" Amy exclaimed. "You wouldn't have been able to escape those knights before and you wouldn't be able to explain this all to me!"

"I don't know. But I think they're experimenting with it. They've been able to use what they have so far, but they haven't yet gotten the exact spell," Shadow said.

Amy pulled her arm out of his grip. "Stop it, this is insane!"

"Then let me prove it to you! I'll take you back to your village and I'll show you." He stepped closer to her, face to face. "I'll show you that what I'm saying is true."

"Fine! And if you can't, you're leaving me there and you're going on you're way. Do you understand?!"

"Yes," Shadow agreed. "Now, come on. We need to go now while we still have some time."

Hey guys. Finished the second chapter! :D After writing this I have a bunch of inspiration for a bit. So lets hope this goes well, haha.

Anyway, Vote and Comment! Tell me what you think!

Also, I've been thinking about reposting ShadAmy- Hunted. The sequel I made to ShadAmy- Marked. I'll probably do it after finishing this story, since I'm not really looking forward to working on two stories at once. I felt bad for taking it down though and have been getting a few ideas for it so I decided its about time I get to it. Tell me what you think :D
