Mother, I'm Trying

Mother, I told you I burned
That poetry book I held so dear.
Mother, I had really hoped that
The meaning of that ruination was clear.
Mother, I know that you are scared
For your precious daughter and her life.
Mother, I genuinely didn't mean
To cause so much fear and so much strife.
Mother, This thin rope is keeping me alive
For you despite life's constant abuse.
Mother, I so desperate to take the rope
And say goodbye from behind a noose.
