Chapter Six
||Valerie||

                Watching Josh get circled by small girls in pink tutus with him insisting he did not know what a "plie" was had me hunched over in fits of giggles. He looked at a total loss on what to do with so many children circling him and veining for his attention. From the moment I walked into my studio and announced to my class that Josh was my out of town cousin here for a visit, the girls all swarmed him. Crushes were developing like mad, especially once he started picking them up and twirling them around. It was a bad move on his part when he did the airplane with one girl because then they all wanted a ride and kept going back for more. I hadn't even started the class yet and he was sending me pleading looks to end this outing of ours.

After calling order to my class and doing our stretches and dance numbers, they huddled around him once again as parents began picking their little ones up. Before leaving, one little girl had asked Josh to marry her. The horror in his expression made me laugh so hard my face hurt. "Wow Josh I didn't know you were such a ladies man," I waggled my eyebrows at him as he held the door open for us to leave.

"What can I say? The ladies love me," he sighed, "All ages apparently."

Pulling up to my house I fell quiet thinking about how much has changed since last night. Yesterday at this time my biggest problem was my witch of a best friend and whether or not I would allow her to drag me out to the club. Now my house was swarming with powerful Supers all waiting to see what powers I possess and if I would join them on their mission against Heroes... The one group of people that were supposed to be the "good guys". How long would they give me to mull over all this? How long until my abilities show themselves? And if my powers are of no use to them... Will they just leave me behind?

"Hey," I snapped out of my thoughts and found Josh watching me with careful blue eyes, the color of the sky on a bright, cloudless day. "You good?" He asked. I bit my bottom lip and nodded. He caught the movement and squinted at me like he didn't believe me but said nothing more as he pushed his side door open. I gave myself one more second before forcing myself to follow him.

Climbing out of my black jeep I started for the door when out of my peripheral I caught the flash of dark red auburn. I turned to find Krista walking up the sidewalk and pausing at my gate. "So you are home." She stated with clear annoyance.

"I just got back," I answered looking around to find Josh had disappeared. I felt a flutter of relief. She would either try to sleep with him or try to get me to. Besides, his presence would stir up too many questions. "What?" I asked spinning back towards her when I heard a muffled comeback. She raised a brow at me but looked past me with curiosity. I followed the movement and found what had peeked her interest. The curtain from my living room window was moving as if someone had been standing there peeking through.

"I thought you said your mom was gone this morning?" She asked suspiciously but kept her eyes trained on the window.

"Uh- she must have gotten back early. What did you want to talk about?" I asked trying to divert her attention. A curious Krista was worse than an angry Krista.

She sighed, opening my white gate she waltzed past me and plopped onto the front step leading to my door. Sitting next to her, I silently waited for her to begin. "Did you ever meet Lucky?"
