The duo headed off to their transfiguration class and Hermione was happy to find Ginny and Luna already waiting outside. She hugged the two girls and Luna looked inquisitively at Draco before wrapping him in a big hug, well, as big a hug as her tiny frame could give him. He stood in shock for a moment before gently hugging her back and looked at her curiously when she pulled away,

"I'm glad you're our friend now, I didn't like you very much before" she said in her usual straight forward, airy manner and Hermione giggled at the bewildered look on his face

"Well Luna, and Ginny, I'm very sorry for being such a git these last few years and I hope I can earn your forgiveness and your friendship" Draco said, a blush colouring his cheeks. Ginny took a step toward him and held out her hand,

"Alright Malfoy, I'll give you a chance, but if you hurt Mione or stuff up in any way, don't forget that I cast a mean Bat Bogey curse" she said as he shook her hand, he grinned sheepishly and gave a nervous laugh

"Yea, I remember that" he said with a wince and the 3 girls laughed at his discomfort. They walked into the classroom and greeted professor McGonagall before taking their seats.

"Good morning, Hermione, a word if you please?" professor McGonagall greeted and Hermione immediately approached,

"I just wanted to let you know that the four boys who attacked Mr. Malfoy have been found thanks to the ingenious spell that you cast on them Hermione, you must tell me where you learnt it sometime - I think the auror office would find it quite handy. Could you please give me their wands? They are going to be expelled shortly and the ministry will need the wands to ascertain what spells were used on Mr. Malfoy" McGonagall said and Hermione flipped open her magical bag to gaze into the vast cavern within, she sighed and pointed her wand into the bag,

"Accio confiscated wands" she said and the four wands sprung out immediately, McGonagall peered at the bag curiously, wondering why in such a small bag, Hermione felt the need to use a spell to locate the wands. Hermione grinned and held the bag out to her favourite teacher,

"Undetectable extension charm, I could fit a couple of people in here and no one would ever know, and the tracing spell is one of the spells I came up with over the past year" Hermione explained and the professor looked delighted.

"You've been inventing spells? I must say I'm quite impressed although it is something that I would have expected from one of the brightest witches to grace these halls since Rowena Ravenclaw herself" McGonagall complimented the much younger witch, making her blush brightly. Hermione nodded in thanks and excused herself to join her friends, promising to write to Kingsley about her new spells. She approached the 3 as the rest of the class filtered in and found Draco listening in amusement as Luna explained to him that he was probably so mean in the past because the nargles messed with his brain or something along those lines,

"Luna, what in blue blazes is a nargle?" he asked in bewilderment and Hermione was glad for his sake that professor McGonagall called the attention of the class before Luna could begin what would likely be a lengthily explanation. The lesson on transfiguring coffee mugs into cats went quickly and without much difficulty although Hermione did pick up on a certain strain of animosity toward Draco. But he suffered through it quietly, and said nothing when his Maine Coon - which was on par with her Siamese - was ignored by the other students who fawned over hers. She scratched the fluffy cat behind the ears, missing Crookshanks who she had left with her parents. She flicked her wand at the Siamese she had created and changed it into a rather large Siberian tiger that sat quietly and flicked its tail, her classmates backed away in fear with jumbled shouts of surprise and McGonagall shot her an amused look, shaking her head at the annoyed young witch. Draco gave a bark of laughter and transfigured the Maine Coon into a large panther that leaped onto her tiger and playfully tackled it. The two large cats rolled and played in the large space created by the cautious students before their amused creators transfigured them back into coffee mugs.
