"Without your wings your  not as strong as you were before puny people."  He chuckled stepping closer to me.  "Soon it'll be dark enough that you can't even see me."  It's hand lifted up my chin so that I was forced to look at his mouth.  He had multiple rows of teeth and they seemed to shift and move as if they were playing musical chairs.  My worst nightmare just got worse.

"Or me."  Blackness oozed out of the creatures mouth and on to me.  An agonizing cry pierced the air hurting my ears before the creature exploded into black ook everywhere.  It was like mud all over my body, but black.

"You okay?"  Colton said coming over to me.  He was covered in the black ook also and his sword was out beside him.  He had killed the beast.  He had killed the monster, while I couldn't.  Now I really was feeling useless.

"Thanks."  I said letting him help me stand up.  "How'd you know where I was?"  I asked. Colton tapped his head as if he had all the knowledge in the world in his brain.  With his mysterious look, you could never know.

"Come with me."  Colton said even though he was already walking off the way I was headed before.  He seemed so different without his wings.  Less powerful, and more like a normal boy.    I reached my hand to my back and touched where my bare skin was exposed.  Girls wore shirts that had dipped backs so there wings could be easily moved, and guys had less fabrics in their shirts where their wings were.  They would let their wings rip right through their shirts, although it was hell getting the shirts off.  The shirts didn't last for long.

I stopped thinking as I fell, quickly putting out my arms to catch myself.  My nose was just in the water as I looked down at glowing rocks.  I stood up and looked around.    There was a pool of water.  The moon was reflecting against the water making it glisten.  There was a waterfall across the water, and all the rocks underneath glowed in all different colors.  It was.. I didn't have a word to describe it.

"This is.. the best."  I said turning around to face Colton.  I looked at him noticing the only thing he was wearing was boxers.  The moonlight glowed on his abs, and I noticed how muscular he really was.  He was everything I thought he would be.  His body was sculpted perfectly.  My breath caught in my throat.

"Your staring."  I quickly turned around breathing heavily.

"Colton."  I paused.  "I'd like this place to be our little secret.  Just me and you."  I turned around to face him, but he was already standing right up against me.  I had to look up to actually look into his eyes and try as hard as I could to not stare at his body, although his eyes themselves were certainly something.

"On one condition.  You get out of those nasty clothes."  My heart started beating faster.  He didn't mean for it to sound sexy, but it came out that way.   I nodded stripping down into my bra and panties.  I washed my clothes in the water before flinging them over a tree branch.  I went back in the water floating around.  It felt so different not having wings.  All my life I've had them and now they're just gone... it's like a human having legs their whole life and then losing them.

"We can't stay out here forever."  Colton said swimming near me.

"Colton, can I ask you something?"  I looked u pat the moon wishing we could stay here forever.  He didn't say anything so I started to ask anyways.

"I heard you say something about your parents before.  I would like to know what happened."  Out of the corner of my eye I could see Colton go under the water.  I looked for his body.  He re-appeared by the shore and got out.  I swam over beside him sitting down on a rock.  I watched as Colton started gathering wood not speaking.

I wondered what he was thinking.  I should give him some time probably.  I leaned my head back and looked up at the full moon.  Latella was beautiful, or at least as much as it that I've already seen.

"I never knew my parents.  From as far as I can remember I lived with your family.  Nobody ever knew what happened to them, or at least nobody ever told me."  I sat down beside him and looked over at him.  He was staring right at me.  The breath caught in my throat again.

"I've grown up with you ever since you were young.  You know I am two years older than you."  He threw another stick into the fire as it grew larger smoke swirling up into the air.  I wondered if it would give our position away, but I doubted it.

"But you know your not my brother."  He shook his head.  Good, I wouldn't want him to be my brother.  "Do you think it's possible to see into your memory?  Maybe you could remember your parents from when you were a baby."  For some reason I felt that looking into his memory would be the right thing to do, and the only thing to do to find out.  I had a certain type of pull to do it too.

"Somebody else would have to do it and either way they'd have to be really strong with the power."  Colton got up and faced his back to me.  I had a feeling that he had thought this through before.  I wanted to help him.  He had saved me, the least I could do was help.

I walked up to Colton and turned him around.  I was suprised he actually let me move him, normally he was as stiff as a rock.  We locked eyes and I put my hands on his head pulling his face to mine.  Our foreheads rested together and I closed my eyes.  It just felt right to do this, like my body was reacting without even thinking.

In the darkness of my eyelids I could see Colton standing before me.  He looked confused.  This was something he certainly didn't expect to happen.

"Let me in."  I whispered stepping closer to him.  Two swords appeared in his hands and he held them infront of his body, blocking me out, as he stood in a fighting stance.  He was ready to attack, but I knew Colton would never attack me.

"That's your power isn't it.  The art of fighting?"  I never saw him carry any type of weapon before.  They just seemed to appear out of nowhere when it came to him. "Well you don't have to fight me."  I stepped close enough so that I could touch him.  I grabbed the swords and made them touch against my neck.  I closed my eyes, spread my arms out, and leaned my neck back.  I was making myself completely vulnerable to him.

"I let you in."  I felt my clothes that I was wearing shed from my body, but I wasn't embarassed.  I knew that wasn't what he would be looking at, but instead just the sigh of me completely giving myself up to him, to let him know that I won't harm him.

"I let you in."  I heard him whisper.  All of a sudden I was Colton, seeing through his memories.  I saw me swimming in the pool of water my hair floating around me, then me looking around at everything as we walked, I felt a searing pain as Colton was cut in training.  I need to see younger.  Images reeled before me making me dizzy until I was looking up at two humans.  They smiled down at me, Colton, holding me, Colton, gently.

"We'll love you forever."  The woman said.  I was guessing she was Colton's mother.

The image changed and this time I was surrounded by fire.  Fire burnt against my skin making me cry out.  Then I was in heaven, dead.  My, not Colton's, parents were there, I noticed my mother's stomach having a bulge.  A large bulge, she was pregnent with a baby.

People in heaven don't change though.  They stay the age they want to be forever.  Something was wrong.  The image changed again and Colton was in Latella.

I pulled back gently from Colton's mind coming back into my own body in present time.  I collapsed onto the ground exhausted.

"That was amazing."  I murmered.  My brain felt like it was going to split into two.

"That's not possible for you to do that."  Colton said sitting down next to me seeming completely at loss of what just happened.  I couldn't describe it myself, but I felt it.  I felt the need to see into his memories, and I believed in myself that I could.

"I don't think I ever want to do that again."  I grabbed my head the pain throbbing.  Pull to do that again or no pull, feeling this much pain consuming my head was not worth it.

"I was human, I died.  We came to Latella somehow.  The light is what allows us to grow.  Your mother was supposed to have you on Earth, but she had you here."  Colton stated blandly trying to figure out what this all meant, although it wasn't adding up to well.

"Shh.  Just silence."  I rested my head on the soft grass trying to go to sleep.  My head hurt so bad, I could seriously just die... could people in Latella die?  I don't really remember
