Alison's POV

I walked into school the next day with my head hung low and my emotions drained out. Why I was crying over a vampire who I had only known for about two weeks was yet to be discovered. Pushing the door open to the registration room, I plopped myself down in my seat next to a joyful Paisley.

"What are you so off about?" she questioned, turning towards me. I shook my head and placed my head in my hands.

"Just feeling a little nauseous, that's all" I replied, seeking to end the conversation.

She took my hint and turned back around after sending me a sympathetic smile.

Soon, I was headed towards my history class and walked up to my seat, throwing my bag on the floor without a care in the world. The sound of people shuffling around the room and friends gossiping about their lives began, and I zoned out, looking down at an empty paper to distract myself.

"Having a rough day?" I suddenly heard right next to me. I shot up, startled, only to find a grinning Laura sitting right next to me.

"Hey, didn't see you there." She waved it off, shrugging.

"So, I'm guessing this has something to do with Brian?" I looked at her for a few seconds, accepting the fact that she was the enemies grand-daughter. Slowly, I nodded. "What happened?" I debated wether I should tell her the truth or not, she was, afterall, on our side, so I decided to go for it.

"I said something by accident yesturday, and he took it the wrong way and just... left. He told me not to come back" I replied, dully. I could see a small smile spread on her lips.

"So it's true then?" Her question caused me to look at her, confused.

"What's true?"

"That you and him... have the hots for eachother" she giggled. My cheeks flushed extremely and my eyes widened. The answer was very much correct, but my ego prohibited me from accepting that out loud to anyone.

"No! I mean... you know... he's nice and all... but like...-"

"Cut the crap Alison, I know you like him. Good thing is, he likes you too"

"And how do you know that?" I questioned like it meant nothing to me. Whereas in reality, I was exploding on the inside and my heart filled with a new ray of hope.

"So, you're not denying it then?"

"No. I mean yes! Oh my god, just answer the question!" I snapped, wanting to desperately know the answer.

"Well, a witch can read through human emotions. My mother said that everytime you two are around each other... well, you both feel the same emotion"

"And what emotion would that be?" She looked back into me, her smile increasing.

"Love" I froze. Ok, one of two things just happened: either she was crazy, or I had horrible hearing. There was no way we felt love towards each other. I felt something for Brian, something deep, but it certainly wasn't love. I had known him for barely two weeks! And it was highly impossible that he felt that way about me, I mean, just yesturday he asked me to stop helping him and leave. He left me!

The universe was on my side and before I had to answer anything, the teacher walked in, silencing the room. I turned away from Laura and focused on the class ahead of me. The teacher started the lesson, but this time my mind was floating on a whole new world.

Can it be possible?

"Hey Alison! Wait up!" I heard Paisley yell from behind me, school had ended and I was on my way home. My legs wanted to drive me to the castle, but I refused. I turned around and to greet a panting Paisley. "What is wrong with you lady?" she questioned when she finally caught her breath.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, why have you been ignoring me these past few days? Where have you been?"

"I told you, I had to do-"

"Your history project?" she interrupted me. I looked to the ground and nodded. "Ok, Ali, will you please just tell me the truth? I don't want to hear the history project excuse again" I sank. Paisley recieved the gift of seeing right through people, and she saw right through me with every lie I said. I knew that no matter what, the truth would eventually come out, or I would lose my best friend. I understood the risks of exposing Brian and knew that if anything happened to him, it would be my fault. But somehow, deep in my mind, I wanted Paisley to accept whatever I was about to tell her.

This wasn't some small secret about a crush. It was much bigger. A world people have yet to discover. One conversation could do a lot of damage, but somehow I trusted Paisley with more than I thought.

I grabbed her arm and dragged her towards and isolated area surrounded by trees. Deep into the trees was a small cliff, where I used to play as a kid. Sitting myself on the edge of the cliff, I watched as Paisley followed in my steps.

"So? Will you tell me what's going on?" I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

"Pais, promise me you won't tell anyone enything. And please, do NOT freak out. Promise me?" Her face turned serious and she nodded.

"I promise Ali" I nodded and took another deep breath. And so, I began.

By the time I finished my story, Paisley's eyes were wide open and her mouth hung open.

"So, let me get this straight. You did all that for him, and then he just left you?" She yelled. I put my finger to her lips trying to shush her up.

"Yes, but he did say it was to protect me" I defended Brian. I was suprised that Pais didn't freak out at all after my story was completed, and she was completely fine with everything. But then again, this was Paisley Brown, the girl whose life evolved around Twilight.

"Ali, just tell me one thing. Do you... feel anything for him?" She questioned, taking my hand in hers. I faced the ground, not knowing how to respond. It souded horrible. The thought of a human girl feeling something for a 459 year old vampire, but I couldn't deny all the sparks I felt when I was around him. Finally, I lifted my head and nodded, looking right into Paisley's eyes. She smiled. "Then do not give up on this man"

"But Pais, he's a vampire, and I'm-"

"Look, I know this sounds a lot like Twilight, but Ali, if he is worthed, then forget the rest of the world. Go back to him, and fight." my mouth turned up into a smile. She was right. I shouldn't give up on something I was willing to fight for. I wasn't going to. I got up with a sudden flash.

"Come on, we're going to the castle. Right now."
