Poem #10: Darkness

Another poem I wrote for my English class.

First I knew darkness.

Its overbearing loneliness,

Its overbearing lack of light.

Then I opened my eyes,

Light.

Light shone brightly,

Giving shapes to my world.

Then I felt warmth,

Warmth from the love  that surrounded me,

Warmth from the freedom.

Then when I close my eyes.

I'm alone,

Consumed by the darkness once more.

Though,

Its embrace was warm,

It was different.

I could feel the light,

I feel no loneliness.
