I was in the common room in college, again listening to music and reading a book listening to one of the London rappers my lover Yungen

"For goodness sake Ari, always listening to music" one of my friends said whilst taking my headphones out my ear

"What the hell! You know I was in my zone w-why did you do that?!!

"BECAUSE, I'm me" she shouted as she plastered a fake smile on her face, well that's what I saw

"You know you shouldn't wear braids it doesn't really suit you" she said still with the fake smile on her face

"Excuse me, my braids are what I chose to do, I don't really care if anybody don't like it" I carried on reading my book as if I could care less but under the brave persona I was showing it hurt to the pit of me because of what she said opinions hurt they truly do especially from a friend who's flawless and gets all the boys attention.

"Well I'm just telling you, and you wonder why you're single" she started to laugh as well as Mikah Rebecca's friend.

"Trust me, always reading, like them love books are going to help you 50 shades of grey ain't gonna give you technique child" she said walking up to where I was sitting.

"For your information, who said I read 50 shades of grey? You think I have time for that and secondly reading boost your literary chances and knowle-"

"Don't get rude Ari, just because you ad Tafari are close does not mean everyone must respect you like you are holiness you're a jok- oh hi Tafari" Rebecca said whilst changing her tone of voice in an instant. She waved and so did Mikah

"Hey Tafari I haven't seen you in a while"

"Well you just did now so..." Tafari replied to Mikah in a nonchalant tone.

Rebecca started to laugh it was an irritating laugh sounded like someone had held her nose.

"Me and Ari were talking don't you think her hairs so nice"

My face scrunched up and I frowned towards her didn't she just say a couple minutes ago it 'didn't suit me' funny how people change when someone else is there, real funny

"Of course it looks nice this is my main girl, you think I'll let my girl look like some tramp?" Tafari replied whilst typing on his blackberry.

Rebecca made a face of resentment towards Mikah about me and she giggled silently but it could still be heard.

"Is there a problem"

They both looked at Tafari as if in shock he heard them laugh

"Er n-no just laughing at something I remember"

"Like what how your horse hair sorry my bad "Brazilian Remy weave" stinks" he looked up at her smiling

Mikah's smile disappeared from her face and she bowed her head down in embarrassment.

Rebecca stood there just laughing at what she just witnessed isn't that supposed to be her friend why is she mocking her

"I'm gonna go yeah see ya later" Mikah walked off without giving anyone any eye contact
