A gentle hush cloaked the land.

The faint bells of Christmas could be heard in the distance.

It was cold outside; people huddled in their coats, mufflers and scarves wrapped round their necks in a weak attempt to hide from the cold. They pulled their loved ones closer, searching for a certain warmth that a human heart seemed to provide.

But as the first flakes of snow started to fall, gently so, our character opened his eyes to greet this beautiful morning.

Chip shifted under the covers, cold. He realized that an arm was wrapped tightly around his waist, preventing him from getting up.

Our character smiled to no one in particular. Just—himself.

He then tried to pry his fiancé's arm off his frame, albeit to no avail.

There was a low chuckle, however, coming from the latter.

"Morning Angel."

"Ah," Chip pulled back, apologetic. "I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to wake you."

"Mm...sleep," Xander laughed low, pulling his angel closer.

"But I have to make breakfast," The other pointed out, blushing slightly from the close proximity that he had yet gotten used to.

For it had been a long time, indeed, since the pair had woke to the smiles of the other.

The years that they had spent apart—quite alone—had somehow, one way or another, past dead-end after dead-end...

Somehow,

Arrived at this point of time in their lives.

Xander wondered how he had gotten so far.

He was certain, had it been two years ago, that perhaps he would not have the strength to carry on with the path of life.

After all, there was close to nothing that held him back from straying off the path and going to the edge.

But of course, he had remembered that he was holding the hand of another on the path—and it was the hand of his sister.

So as many foolish humans would do, Xander held on to hopeless hope.

He had, of course, abandoned all thought of his angel's Love. He felt as if he didn't deserve it, after all.

.

And then here he was.

The world in his arms, and suddenly,

Living wasn't so much a chore as it was before.
