“I am far older than you”, Aria said while running her fingers through her hair, getting herself further up on Thorin’s waist as her legs was wrapped around his back.

He was having her pressed up against one of the stone walls with his hands on her waist. Right behind Thorin there was another wall and together the two walls made up a very small space where Aria and Thorin were hiding.

Once the teasing had gotten too much, they snuck away from Thranduil and Thror to hide in tight spaces like that although there was no other place to hide, simply just to talk.

Legolas on the other hand had noticed the two of them getting closer though, but he didn’t say anything about it. Sometimes he gave Aria a cheeky look, like he knew something she didn’t.

Thorin cocked his head to the side and got himself closer up to her.

“What does that matter?” he asked. He knew that it would actually be a problem eventually. He knew that he was mortal; Aria wasn’t. She would stay just like she looked like in front of him in that very moment, forever. She would be beautiful for all eternity. Thorin would eventually, after many years, grow old and die whilst Aria would go on living.

Thorin kissed her cheek once he witnessed how she grew serious.

“I’m sorry”, he said. “It does matter.”

Aria smiled weakly before she carefully ran her fingers down Thorin’s forehead, down to his lips. He closed his eyes to Aria’s touch and kissed her fingertips before dropping her down to the floor. Even next to Thorin, Aria felt small. She could only each up to his chest which made her resemble a Hobbit quite a lot. For her that wasn’t exactly a compliment.

Thorin smiled down at her though, rubbing Aria’s cheek with his thumb. He turned his head around to look out into the great halls of Erebor, and then turned back around.

“I think you father is on the verge of leaving soon. You should get back to him.”

Aria looked out from their little space as well, witnessing her father and Thror together with Legolas. He stood obediently by his father’s side, smiling.

Aria nodded, turning to face Thorin again, looking deeply into his eyes.

“I will return soon”, she told him before getting out of the space to walk towards her father and brother.

“Wait, Aria.” Thorin grabbed her hand and she swift around, staring confusingly at him. Carefully he grabbed her by the waist and closed the gap between them, kissing her passionately. Aria kissed back, wrapped her arms around his back.

Before Aria pulled away, she just wanted to take in that exact moment by standing perfectly still, her forehead rested against Thorin’s and her eyes closed. Thorin didn’t pull back and he didn’t complain either. Together they stood perfectly still for a moment, but they enjoyed it; just by being together.

Once Aria’s eyes opened again she witnessed how Thorin had been staring at her the whole time with a smug but loving smile on his lips.

Aria couldn’t help but smile as well and when she turned around to approach her father and brother, they were already facing her way, smiling like they had known all along.
