Remember that day, I ran right into you? I though you would yell...but you didn't

I walked ran down the street with a smile. I don't know why I was so happy, I just was. I was so happy I forgot to look where I was going until I hit something. I fell back and hit the ground, rubbing my head. When I looked up, I saw a boy around my age. He had blond hair, and sky blue eyes. He looked down at me as I prepared to be yelled at and told to 'watch where I was going'...but nothing came. I opened my eyes and meet his as he offered a hand with a warm smile. I took it and he helped me up. Instead, he asked if I was okay and told me his name was Link. That was the day our friendship started.

I walked to Links house and knocked on the door. No answer. Today he said we were going to Lake Hylia and as always, I was exited. At this time, we were best friends. I didn't have many friends so I guess you could say Link was my only friend. I looked around to see his sword leaning against the house. He told me millions of times it wasn't a play toy, but he wasn't here now. I picked it up and held it in front of me with a smile, swinging it around pretending to be the heroic boy. That's when I heard him yell my name. I gasped and hit my hand with the sword, cutting it. I dropped the sword and held my hand as Link ran to my side and looked at it. Tears formed in my eyes as I prepared for him to tell me 'I told you so', but nothing came. Instead, he wrapped a cloth around my hand and kissed my forehead, telling me it would be okay.

I leaned against the wall, flirting with all the guys huddled around me. I didn't like any of them but they were part of my plan. Really, I loved Link but I had no idea if he loved me back. I though that maybe I could flirt with some guys, and see if he got jealous. When I looked over, I saw him glaring at us all. He was jealous, and he didn't look happy at all. He wasn't suppose to be mad though, just a little jealous. He went to walk away as I ran up to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. I prepared for him to not want to talk to me. But he spun around and pressed his lips to mine instead.

I sat there and watched him and Zelda talk. They seemed happy with each other, talking and laughing. I couldn't help but think he would be happier with her than me. I sighed and walked off, tears rolling down my face. I couldn't help but cry. Before I got to far, I heard Link yell my name, but I keep walking. I didn't want him to see me cry. But he followed me. He turned me around to face him and frowned at the sight of my tears. he asked if I was jealous, and I said yes. I prepared for him to think less of me and abandon me. But instead he pulled me into a hug.

Yes, there were a lot of things you didn't do. But you put up with me, and loved me, and protected me...

There was a lot of things I wanted to make up to you. when you returned from war...

I didn't want him to go. He would leave me and his daughter behind, but it was for a good cause and everyone knew it. Ganondorf was back and war was declared. I held (daughter's name)'s hand as I tried not to cry. He gave me one last kiss and promised us both he'd be back. I nodded and we said our good-byes before he headed off. I watched with (D/n) in my arms. She was only 3 and he father was leaving. But at the time she was young and didn't get it.
