One

There's always that one who takes you by surprise and knocks you off your feet

The one who you trust and they take your trust and break it

The one who you care for and they stop caring about you

The one who you love but they stop loving you

The one that you think "man, that's the one"

When really they're "the one who lied."

Your heart begins to crush in a small and simple way

It cracks and tears until there's barely anything left

You struggle to breathe when you realize the mistake you made

The One you wanted is now The One who's away.

But you get up, get dressed, and start a new day,

Because those feelings will eventually fade away.

Just as slow as their motives changed, the same time it will take

For healing to take place.
