Hello! Yes, part 2 of chapter 20 is finally here :^) I hope the wait wasn't too long. Alright, I'll stop talking and let you guys enjoy this half of a chapter!
---It was recess, and Jeonghan no longer hid himself in the art room with his packed lunch, and he had to thank Seungcheol for that. The older boy showed him how eating at the cafeteria could be enjoyable and made him opened up to so many new people and new adventures, and he was truly thankful.
But today it was different, he didn't have Seungcheol next to him during lunch, constantly talking while he was eating, constantly stealing his pickled radishes. Jeonghan found himself missing his incessant chatting next to his ear when he normally found it annoying, he missed fighting over pickled radishes and strawberry milk even though he usually hated it when Seungcheol did so.
Jeonghan brought his packed lunch into the art room and sat on that stool, he hadn't been here in a long time. The older boy brought him out of his recluse and showed him what having a life was like, and without him, it was like the old times, just his art and him. He opened his lunch box and sighed, eating alone really sucked.
He glanced at the wall clock, and realised Seungcheol's game was starting in half an hour. He dialled his number on his phone, praying that he would pick up. After a few rings, the familiar voice could be heard from the receiver on his phone.
"Jeonghan-ah, what's up! The game is starting soon, I can't talk long," The older boy sounded anxious, and Jeonghan was sad he couldn't be with him at the benches to cheer the boys on.
"Just wanted to wish you guys all the best, I'm sorry that I can't be there," He apologised, but Seungcheol just laughed it off on the other end.
"It's ok! So long you're supporting us in your heart, alright?" This boy always knew how to make Jeonghan smile. In the background, he could hear the soccer coaches beginning the pep talk for the players.
"Hey, I gotta go, but don't feel sorry that you can't be here, ok?" And with that comforting sentence, Seungcheol put down the phone. Jeonghan turned back to his easel, it's just you and me for the whole lunchtime.
---Deep breaths, he chanted to himself. Hearing Jeonghan's voice and having his support made this anxious situation so much better, but he couldn't help but still feel very nervous and guilty that he had stupidly injured himself two months before the competition. He had never stopped blaming himself for it, despite the countless number of times Jeonghan told him that he was it his fault.
The coaches gathered the boys to the benches for the last pep talk, before the referee called the players on the field. He gave his whole team a confident smile.
"Go out and smash the opponents! You can do this, you hear me?" Seungcheol geared his team on for the final time. It was the first match of the season, and winning this will give the boys a gigantic confidence boost.
"Yes, Captain!" They yelled, shooting him toothy smiles, before heading to the field. Seungcheol stayed back in the benches with the coaches and some of the reserves. His heart was racing, his palms were sweaty, and he felt queasy all over. He felt his phone buzz, who would messaged me now?
Jeonghan: lunch is ending, and i won't be able to text you anymore. i know you're really nervous, but the team will play well and they won't let you down! all the best, hwaiting~~
The sweet message from the younger boy left the captain of the soccer team grinning at his screen. He really did know the right way to cheer Seungcheol up. Just then, the team walked onto the field alongside the opponent's team, each giving the other team menacing glares, it's starting.
