I couldn't resist posting this already, so here you go... Oli's in for a bit of a surprise.

<====================>

<==> Oliver's POV <==>

I was lying on my bed, below deck in the sleeping quarters. It was late and it had been a long day, but most of the crew was up in the mess hall or on the recreational deck. For the first time in two weeks of being out here, we were dismissed from our duties for a few hours.

Things had been on high alert basically since the moment we arrived, due to threats from terrorists in the nearby vicinity. Of course we weren't in the middle of it, which was the job of the men on ground and partly the air force as well. But we still had to keep a lookout.

Two weeks on high alert also meant no communication with anyone but our own crew for that entire span of time, for both our own safety and our families'.

Deep down I hated the fact that I couldn't wake up every morning and have the first thing that I do being texting my beautiful wife to tell her that I love her and wish her a good day. Then to call her the same night to ask her about everything she did.

I always missed her like a mad person when I was out here on the ship, but I could handle it. Most of the time I was too busy to really think about it anyway. I loved my job, and she knew that. And she handled it so well too, though of course I knew she was always worried about me.

I sighed softly, propping myself up a little as I looked at the picture of her that I held between my fingers. I always kept one with me in my pocket, perhaps for good luck, I don't know. I was so grateful to have met her that day at my best friend's wedding.

"Would you like to dance as well?" I asked Crystal as she absentmindedly stared off at Josh and his new wife as they danced gracefully.

She turned her head, flashing me a beautiful smile. "Sure, that sounds nice." She agreed.

I smiled and took her glass from her, putting it on the table behind me, along with my own. I then carefully grabbed her hand and led her to the dance floor, not too far away from the happily married couple.

I gingerly held her hand in mine as I placed my other hand on her hip. She almost immediately responded by resting her free hand on my shoulder as I slowly started swaying. I smiled as I looked down at her. She was so stunning; I couldn't help but to smile at the mere sight of her.

"You did a lovely job on the bride's dress." I then told her, not taking my eyes off her for even a second.

"Thank you." She simply said, a bashful blush taking over her cheeks.

"Do you design wedding dresses a lot?"

She nodded a little. "It's my job."

I had no idea what it was, but she took my breath away. She was gorgeous, gracious, kind. . . and if she was friends with Abi, then she surely was a good person.

Our eyes connected on occasion, and the first few times I noticed how she kept looking away shyly, the light bouncing off her rosy cheeks. I thought it was insanely cute, and it made her face light up like the moon lit up the earth at midnight.

"You look gorgeous, by the way." I told her honestly as our eyes connected again. "And not to insult your dress, but I believe you actually look better than the bride."

An even deeper blush washed over her beautiful face. "Well thank you, I think." She said, smiling and frowning at the same time.

I couldn't possibly hold back the ever-growing smile on my face. I noticed every little thing she did, and it was both amusing and intriguing to me. I had to get to know her better, but I was sure that wouldn't be a problem.
