Chapter 2

Rosie
How could Shawn do this to me? Me?! And in front of everyone?! I was his elder sister. He should have some respect for me! And most importantly i was the future female beta of the pack! What message would he give to the others?
Nathan drove me home and i went in search of my mom. The nurse at the office had stitched up my cheek but a bruise had formed nonetheless.
"MOM!" I yelled.
I found mom in her room. She was cleaning her cupboard.
"Oh my god! Rosie what happened?!" Mom cried rushing over to me.
"Your precious baby hit me," i said annoyed.
"Who?" She asked.
"Shawn," i scowled.
"Shawn did this? Impossible!" Mom exclaimed.
"You can ask the whole school mom. Even Mr. Oleander. He suspended Shawn for a week," i said sitting on the chair.
"Shawn hit you and got suspended?" Mom asked sitting down on the bed.
"Yes mom. Thats what i said," i sighed.
"I dont believe this. I thought he wouldnt show until he was your age," mom said rubbing her eyes.
"What do you mean mom?" I asked curious.
"Where's Shawn?" Mom asked.
"Dont know but he wasnt at school," i said.
"I have to tell Jay," mom said getting up.
I was really curious. What was so important about Shawn? I had to know about this. I knew evesdropping wasnt an option but i wanted to know why they treated Shawn and Serenity special. Maybe then i would be able to get along well.
"Jay he's started showing the signs," mom said.
"Who? Shawn?" Dad asked.
"Yes. He punched Rosie today and got suspended for a week," mom sighed.
"Oh my gosh! Is she all right?" Dad asked worried.
"There's a bruise but other than that she's fine," mom said.
"Maybe it was just on the spur of the moment," dad said.
"Didnt you read Jay? Grey wolves get angry quickly," mom said.
"Maybe its just your fear little wolf," dad asked.
Grey wolf? What did they mean by that?
"No Jay. Shawn wouldnt punch Rosie over a minor thing. And to his own sister," mom said.
"I know little wolf. Its shocking to me as well that Shawn would hit his own sister," dad said.
"I will ask him what happened when he gets home," mom sighed.
"He isnt home?" Dad asked.
"No Jay. Rosie said he wasnt at school either," mom said.
"Wait for another hour before i get out to look for him," dad said.
"I am scared Jay," mom said.
"Dont be love. Everything will be fine," dad said.
I knew this was my cue to leave and so i made my way back to my room. Grey wolf? What did they mean by that? And what connection did Shawn had with the Grey wolf? Looking at myself in the mirror i saw the bruise on my cheek.
I scowled at that. Just one day before the mating ceremony and i got this damn big bruise on my cheek. My mate wouldnt even want me if i look like this tomorrow.
'Of course he would. He's our mate,' Quinn said.
Quinn is my wolf's name.
'You think?' I asked.
'I know,' she said confidently.
A mating ceremony is a major event. Where all the packs gather and find their mates. But the girls gather inside first and then the boys walk in one by one. I am excited but nervous at the same time. A knock sounded on my door.
"Come in," i said sitting on the chair.
"Rosie i want to talk to you," mom said.
"Sure mom," i said.
"The mating ceremony is tomorrow," mom said.
"I know," i said bored.
"My baby girl will all be grown up now," mon said teary eyed.
"Mom. You know this day would come," i said.
"I didnt know it would come so soon. It just seems like yesterday you would come running straight to me after school," mom smiled at the memory.
That made me feel a bit guilty that i didnt spend much time with my mom. Then again i always thought that mom didnt love me.
"We would then spend time together. Just the two of us before you played with Nate and Joey," mom said.
"Now i hardly see you," she continued.
"Mom can i say something?" I asked wanting to get this off my chest.
"Of course sweety. Anything," mom smiled at me.
"I thought you loved Shawn and Serenity more than me," i said.
"Oh Rosie how could you!" Mom cried.
I felt ashamed of myself and looked at my feet.
"Come here Rosie," mom said in her soft voice.
I got up and sat next to mom on the bed. Mom pulled me close to her and i rested my head on her shoulder.
"Never think that Rosie. You are my first born child. You have a special place in my heart. I was only 17 when i found out i was pregnant with you," mom chuckled.
"Really mom? What about dad?" I asked curious.
"Oh your dad was escatic. Beyond happy. And a major pain in the ass," mom laughed.
I smiled at that. Mom and dad loved me!
'See? I told you our parents love us,' Quinn said.
"All because i was worried for my mate and my child," dad's voice said from the doorway.
"Dad!" I exclaimed running to him.
Dad hugged me and looked at me closely.
"Shawn did this to you?" Dad asked softly touching my bruise.
I winced a bit and dad frowned.
"I will have to talk to him about it," dad said.
"Jay you know the reason why he did it," mom said.
"I know but i am going to talk to him nonetheless," dad said.
"Dad are you free today?" I asked.
I wanted to spend some time with my parents. Just the three of us.
"No sweety. But if you want i can take a day of for you," dad said.
"Whats more we can go to that new restaurant that opened a few days earlier," mom smiled at me.
"Really mom? I have been dying to try that place!" I said excited.
"Then its settled. The 5 of us will go to dinner today," dad said.
"Shawn and Serenity as well?" I asked with a scowl.
"Yes sweety. Try to get close to them. And dont make fun of them," mom stroked my hair.
"But i cant help it," i said.
"We know that you as an older sister will try to think of a way," dad smiled at me.
"Yeah because you have our support," mom smiled.
How could i have thought that mom and dad didnt love me?
