Chapter 38: Xander's POV

Scarlett teleports us to London, England. The last time I was here I was with everyone I cared about then we found the others. Sometimes I wonder if I hadn't been set on finding those other kinds, they would still be alive. Maybe we'd all would've been killed before. I don't really regret meeting them, but I do regret betraying them. Leo gave me so many chances, especially when his friends wanted to kill me or punch me in the face. I owe him so much and I hope annihilating Sofia will suffice. My thoughts are interrupted when I notice that Scarlett has been calling my name for the past thirty seconds.

"Xander! Come on! We don't have time for daydreaming!" Scarlett exclaims.

"Right," I say. "Sorry." I follow her into the Crystalite capital. "Be on your toes, Icers or rogue Crystalites could be anywhere."

We look around, I have my diamond sword at the ready. I see Mr. Eisold.

"Scarlett." I nudge her and point to her dad. When he sees us, he comes running over.

"Scarlett!? Is that you!?" Mr. Eisold exclaims. Scarlett nods and Mr. Eisold embraces his daughter. "I thought you were never going to come back."

"I had to," Scarlett says. "I did something and now the whole world is going to pay. Dad, you have to fight against Sofia's forces."

"I don't have the power to," Mr. Eisold says. "The Crystalites are scattered."

"Do something!" Scarlett exclaims. "An ice chunk comes flying at us but Mr. Eisold puts up a snowflake shield. "Send a message to anyone who is willing to fight against her. It's imperative we fight her."

Mr. Eisold nods. "I'll do what I can. Get to the Pocionizers. They're the ones who you need to change their alliance to."

"Yeah we're going right now," Scarlett says. She grabs my arm.

"You won't make it in time!" Mr. Eisold exclaims.

"I've learned a few things from the Icers. One of them being to teleport," Scarlett says. "Bye dad." We teleport to Istanbul and are immediately surrounded by Pocionizers.

"State your business," one of them says.

"We need to speak to your leader," I say. "Sofia is planning on betraying you."

"She's promising us world domination!" another one exclaims.

"No she's not," Scarlett says. "She's going to take the power for herself and kill all of you."

"How would you know? Why should we listen to you?" the first one asks.

"Because we were alliances with Sofia," I say. "She promised to keep two people alive for me, but then killed them in the end."

The Pocionizers exchange looks then let us through.

"She's through there," the second one says. We walk into a building and see the Pocionizer leader, Kendra McClellan. sitting there.

"Who's that?" Scarlett asks.

"Pocionizer leader. Her name is Kendra McClellan," I whisper.

Kendra turns and glares at us. "Who are you and what are you doing here? Why didn't my guards kill you on the spot?"

"We come with a message," I say. "Sofia Ewer is planning on betraying you and your forces."

"That's preposterous," Kendra says. "I have no reason to listen to you." She gets up and walks over to us. She's young, maybe in her mid-twenties. She came to power when her parents died.

"You do when your entire nation will die," I say. She looks at me. "That's right. Sofia will kill every single Pocionizer until she's in charge."

"I need proof," Kendra says.

"Take it from me," I say. "Sofia promised me my two best friends would survive even though they were against her. She ended up breaking her promised and now they're both dead. She'll do the same to you. She doesn't care about your wants." Kendra still doesn't look convinced. Scarlett is about to start yelling, but I stop her. I make Kendra look at me. "Sofia made me kill my true love. She wouldn't let me save her either. I had to watch her die of something I caused."

"What will I get if I help you?" Kendra asks.

"Salvation," I say. Kendra gives me a look. "Look, I can't promise you anything right now, but I know someone who can get you something. The leaders of the other three kinds in America can award you for helping them. Maybe they'll give you land there - I don't know, but they'll give you something."

Kendra looks between Scarlett and I, probably deciding whether to believe us or not. Kendra puts her hand up to her ear then speaks.

"New orders, begin wiping out the Icers. Give the Crystalites a chance to surrender, but if they refuse, kill them in any way you please," Kendra says. She nods to Scarlett and I. "Thank you. We will try our best."

"No, thank you for helping us," Scarlett says. "Xander, we've got to go now."

"Where are you going?" Kendra asks.

"Someone's got to kill Sofia," I say. "We just happen to be part of the team who has the job."

"Good luck," Kendra says to us.

I nod in thanks to her and Scarlett and I teleport to where Leo, McKenna, and Ember are supposed to be. If this all goes as planned, I'll see Abigail again.
