I woke up to the sound of sirens. I got out of bed and looked out my window. The police were there. I saw my sister and she was getting arrested again.

Oh great, I thought to myself. What has she done now?

I could hear her cussing as she got in the back of the cop car. Heck, I'm pretty sure the whole neighborhood heard her. I love my sister but she is nothing but trouble.

Ever since our mother died and our dad left, she hasn't been the person I know. Brittany used to be selfless, kind, nice, innocent, and she used to have brown hair.

As I was watching  out the window, her eyes met mine for a second before the car pulled out of the driveway.

I checked the time on my phone. 1:20 AM.  I knew that I wasn't going to sleep anytime soon. Once I am up, I'm up for the day.

I walked down the hall to the kitchen and got a glass of water. I heard the light click on, and footsteps coming down the hallway.

"Nicolas what are you doing up so early?" Marine asked me.

Marine is my aunt on my mom's side. After my mom died my dad left to 'go find himself.' The government sent me and Brittany to live with Marine. Her ex-husband is in prison for murder. She has a daughter, Hayley who is a wallflower.

"I was thirsty," I said taking a drink. I knew Marine didn't hear the sirens or Brittany screaming. That woman is the heaviest sleeper ever. When her and my mom were kids, a tornado struck and Marine slept through the whole thing.

"Nicolas," she sighed. "Please go back to bed." I shrugged and went back to bed.

I heard Marine pouring herself a glass of wine. I shut the door behind me. I sat my glass on the nightstand.

I wasn't worried about Brittany. This is the sixth time she has been arrested in two years. I don't know if she is getting better or worse. I just wanted to know what she got arrested for. Another reason I wasn't worried about her was Marine always bails her out. Brittany never does anything really bad.

I laid down on my bed and closed my eyes. Then slowly I went back to sleep.
