Ok, so how do you even work out who your chara is?
First, you need to think of your dream. Something you want to do, or someone you want to be. It could be anything. Get into a meditative state, and then try to picture a plain white egg while focusing on your dream. It can help to listen to music, as long as it isn't too disruptive.
It's really hard to see your egg, trust me. So don't get annoyed if you can't do it at first. If you see your white egg start to form a pattern or a picture, then well done! You've done it!
Your chara might not want to come out of the egg at first, but just give it some time.
Ask their name and other questions, before saying goodbye.
