"You're leaving already?"Simmons asks, looking up from her microscope.

I wipe my weary eyes."We've been at it all night."I eye my watch."It's already one!"

Jemma wipes her own eyes."We probably should retire shouldn't we?"

I nod once and run my hands through my hair."I could walk you outside-only if-of course if you want me to."I stammer.

"No,I'm fine. I think I am going to work at this a little longer."

"Oh,that's,"I place my hands on my hips."that's fine too."I nod."Yeah that's fine too."

Jemma flashes a sympathetic  smile."Perhaps another night,maybe?"

I swallow."Actaually I was wondering-I mean if you wanted to-we could get food. Togther. If you want-"I slam my palm into my head."I understand if you don't because your so busy with the research, but if you-em-if you wanted to,get food. Some place nice. Not-not-"

"Are you asking me out on a date?"

"I'm trying to. I think I failed 'cause I said too much."

She smiles."Sure,Fitz."

My eyes widen without me ever wanting them to."Really? Seriously?"

"Of course. I'll be free on Friday. Well not entirely, but long enough to eat food with you at some place nice."

Jemma smiles slyly and I find myself hiding a grim myself.

"I'll pick you up at 7?"

She nods."That sounds great."She abruptly jumps from her chair."I almost forgot,Fitz! I have something for you. Stand there while I get it?"

"Sure."

"It will only take moment,I promise."

She walks into the backroom of the lab and dissapears.

I rock back on my heels and whistle while I wait for her.

When she returns, she holds out a long oval shaped object to me with the words From:Jemma To:Fitz penned onto the yellow tissue paper.

"What is it?"

"Open it at home. You can tell me what you thought about it tommorow."She reaches up to kiss my cheek."Good night Fitz."

I smile."Good night."

I wave to Jemma as I leave. I catch a subway to my apartment building, and like I had expected,it is silent except dor the low murmurs of muffled television coming from Mrs. Daniels's apartment.

When I have reached my apartment I lay my things on the couch and tear open the object Jemma had given me back at the base. It a sandwhich. The one like she made me when I was away from S.H.I.E.L.D.

I make a pot of tea and rest my sandwich on a plate. I want to text Jemma my thanks, but I'm sure she has returned to her research or even gone home herself to sleep. The subway ride is two hours after all.

I turn to the living room, stopping abruptly as I spot the envelope there. I approach it slowly, but soon scold myself for being so stupid. There is no way that an envelope could be explosive. I'm being irrational.

I reach down and tear it open to find a very long letter inside. On the very first fold Bobbi's name is scribbled in her poor writing.

I wonder what she wants to talk about.

I bring both my sandwich and tea into the living room where I sit down to begin reading.
