'What the hell is this?' I asked him in confusion.

'Look, I know it looks bad, but I can explain!' He winced at me

'Explain then!'

'Okay. Right, So I know a guy who may or may not be a bloodsucking vampire. He has nowhere to live and because of the laws that say vampires can't harm the humans I'm delivering these to him. I got them from the morgue. You know, as soon as the newly dead guys come in, I sneak in and collect the blood. I'm sorry, I should have told you.' He sighed as he sat down and looked at me with those puppy dog eyes.

'Well, okay, I guess. Where is this friend of yours staying anyway?' I asked

'Okay. So promise me you won't go mental.' He replied.

'I promise'.

'He's staying in the attic upstairs....'

I looked at him in disbelief. What the hell? Is he seriously telling me we have a bloodsucking vampire living directly above us for god knows how long? I swear, sometimes I question why we're together. I heard the door slam shut again, meaning our other housemate Bailey was home.

'HOUSE MEETING!' I yelled throughout the house.

'Woah, what's happening? Bailey said as he walked into the kitchen.

'You guys okay?' Tara asked as she walked in after him.

'Jake, anything you want to explain?' I asked, staring him down. He finally backed down and explained everything. After he had finished, Bailey and Tara looked at him in the same disbelief I had used minutes before.

'Wait a minute, so how long has this guy been staying here for?' Tara asked, looking at the ceiling warily.

'He's been here for three days. I promised him I would give him a place to stay.' He replied.

'I hope you didn't tell him that we're the main course' Bailey said with a sigh.

'No! Of course not! He's a good guy! I promise you, he would never hurt anyone' Jake protested.

'Wouldn't I?' Said a familiar voice from the kitchen door. The vampire Jake was talking about just so happened to be someone I knew. His name was Fabian. He was one of the only good vampires around here. And that number was rapidly diminishing. He used to work at the local coffee shop but he quit, and I hadn't seen him since. Until now.

'Fabian!' Tara screeched. She walked over for a hug but Fabian quietly put up his hand to stop her.

'Please, don't hug me. I'm not in the mood. Besides, I don't hug. Especially humans.'

'Gee, sorry.' Tara looked slightly hurt, but got over it quickly enough.

'Did you get my dinner? I need my vitamins you know.' Fabian asked, directing the question at no one in particular.

'Yeah, I have it right here.' He shoved the bag full of blood towards Fabian. 'I also brought us humans some pizza, so if you can go back to your attic now, we can sit down and eat our own dinner.'

I stared at Jake. It wasn't a very wise move to be all smart-ass to a vampire but Fabian didn't seem to care.

'Of course.' He said, ducking out of the kitchen and heading back upstairs.

'Well, he must be in a good mood. You were a complete smart-ass to him and he barely even blinked.' I said.

'I told you. He's one of the good guys. We could just let him stay for a few more days or so. Just until he gets his life sorted out.' Jake said, eyeing Bailey in particular, as this was actually his house.

'Yeah. Sure, why not?' Bailey replied.

This was just an everyday normal happening in Burnsville. Except for the fact that the humans are usually the ones asking the vampire's for help instead of the other way aound. Well, I guess they need some help too, every once in a while.
