Chapter 3

I finally got enough strength to say my name. "..Jackie." I told him. "Are you new here?" he asked me, as he sat on the swing next to me. "Yeah. I just got here like an hour ago." I replied to him. "Oh, cool. Welcome to Joplin." he said. I was dying inside. I was trying to stay as calm as I possibly could. I mean comeon! CHRISTOFER DREW INGLE was talking to..me. Ohmygosh. "Thanks." I lightly laughed. I caught him eyeing my cowboy boots. Well, this was awkward. "Uhm.Why are you staring at my boots?" I asked him, awkwardly smiling. "Oh, sorry. I just love how your wearing cowboy boots in the summer." he replied, smiling. "Thanks." I said, biting my lip. Yaaay! Christofer likes my cowboy boots. I thought to myself in my head, followed by a mental happy dance. There was an awkward silence for about two minutes. "Sorry. I'm so awkward and like...lame." I said. "Nahh. Your not. I am. He said looking at me and then the floor. Wow, this conversation was entertaining.. I thought to myself. I'm such an idiot! Why can't I think of anything to say?! Arg. I hate myself."Uhm.. how's your music career going?" I asked. "It's going great! Loving touring, fans, everything! I'm actually on break from touring for two weeks." he said. "Awesome! I'm actually like a super-duper big fan of your music, and the amazing person you are. Not to sound like a fan girl or anything." I told him, as he grinned. "Thanks! And I'm not amazing." he laughed. "Yeah, you kinda are." I said as I looked down at my watch, 6:55. I usually don't come on the curfew my mom tells me, but I was hungry and my mom had dinner at the house. "Hey Christofer, I loved talking to you and all, but I gotta go." I said, sort of dissapointed "Oh, okay." he said. "But wait...." he pulled out a pen from his back pocket and reached for my hand. "Here's my number." he said as he wrote it down on my hand. I smiled. "Thanks, see ya around, Chris." I said as I started heading back home. All I could think as I was walking away was :
