(Another Christmas Poem)

With a day away and tons of good cheer, the Alexandrians decorate and thank God they've lasted another long year. To many things wrapped around in their minds- expanding, farming, milling- but most of all cherish every ounce of time. Before Beth was there, they were doing alright, birthdays were celebrated, but Beth does everything better with very little might. Now she and her sister had finally made up, and Christmas cheer made them all flutter, but there was one problem with Daryl- he has a small stutter.

Not really a stutter, but a pause and usually a huff, he wants to give Beth an awesome present- something that shows his love...and other stuff (wink wink). No, Daryl never had a Christmas celebration, but with Beth in his arms, he fought the childhood frustration. He loved that dear woman, yes Woman I'd say, he loved her more than anyones ever loved anyone- in a romantic kind of way. She was his light, an angel, words he can't even pronounce. With a feeling so strong, he finally sees his moment to pounce.

"Daryl, dear Lord, you gave me a fright."

"Deanna, I was wondering if you had something sparkly, i could give Beth tonight?" Daryl toiled and fisted the bottom of his shirt, hoping his statement didn't make him seem like a douchy, needy, jerk. "I know I shouldn't ask you to part with something of yours, it's just that there's nothing left of Alexandria's jewlery stores."

Deanna thought very hard before going to her cabinet, opening it up, she smiled and knew Beth would just love it.

"In this tiny box, don't open, just listen, is something very special. Beth should love it more than a finch loves thistle."

"Is that good? Will it work?"

"It will work very well. Trust me, I know. I've had it so long, but it still makes my heart..."

***Crash!***

From outside, the steeple cracks, the cold bitter wind finally took it down with one firey whack. Bursting through the sheet metal wall, the enclosed the zone tight, the steeple fell and everything was anything but alright.

"Holy Shit!" Daryl exclaimed as he ran to the window to see what was the matter. "The south wall has come down!"

"So that was the clatter?"

Rushing from the house, in a freezing -8 below, Daryl examined the pile,

"It just goes to show!" He yelled angry as can be. "This is why we can't have nice things! What'd you do Rhee?"

Looking in shock all the same, the Korean frowned and sinmered, he was over in his house with Maggie, who was making him fix the light dimmer.

"I was inside when it happened just now. That thing was so old it was bound to come down, but never would of guessed how..." Glenn feels himself quack in worry. "Walkers could come in!"

"Calm down, that won't happen until after February." Abraham exclaimed, while Eugene just stood frozen, holding onto his mulleted mane.

"We're lucky no one got hurt-"

"Are you sure no one is??"

"Calm down Eugene, yer just a science nerd-"

"I prefer WIZ!"

"Enough, Abe, Eugene- remember we're friends. It's just a collapsed beam or two, it's not going to mean the end." Tara comes from the North road. Denise is close behind, with Edward in toe.

"Great the townies are all in this now too!"

"Abraham!"

"Calm down Rosita, please, a bigger crowd just won't do." Daryl says as Rick comes through.

"Daryl's right, if we panic, then the others will too. Now let's start moving these boards, check for any injured, and then we'll start building this section up...."

"While it's still winter? Well that is bust!"

"Spencer! We have to start now before this wall bracing starts to rust!"

"Come off it Grimes, you just want others hard labor- yer men did build these walls- the Alexandrians will all wait til later."

"Later!? There's no time, you dumb fuck of an oaf! We're doing it now- or come spring- the Walkers are gonna dethough- and we'll be a human meatloaf!" Daryl counters, growling and stewing, he's never like that punk ass whiner- so he had this yelling stewing.

"What is it with all you fucking Georgian people! Clean this shit up...."

"Spencer! I told you before to collapse that steeple!" Deanna came out angry now. "You lazy son of mine, this is all your doing. So listen. They are part of us-"

"How???" Jessie runs to the scene. "The steeple came down? And has anyone seen Beth Greene?"

Looking to the pile of timber, strewn through the area, Daryl begins to panically dig, worrying she be there be there- just under.

"Beth! Beth!" He let out a cry. And all started digging and throwing boards to the side. "Please be safe. Please be anywhere but under there!"

"Jessie! Go get more hands- any we can spare!" Rick yells from the clutter? "Beth! If you can hear us! Yell! Don't mutter!"

"Dear God please let her be safe from this pile!"

"Daryl, just keep digging, I have faith she's okay!" Michone said with a fake toothy smile.

They dig and they dig, but still no blonde they find. That is until they find her laying underneath a window of pine. Not a scratch on the girl, just a very small bump, scooping her up, Daryl stands with a jump.

"Beth! Beth. Please be alright."

"Daryl? What happened? One moment i was in the sun, then with a creak, no light?"

"The steeple came down, but you were saved by a window type bubble, I was worried I lost you- to that damn wood and rubble."

Hugging him tight as the small woman can, she's thankful someone loves her as much as this man.

(Sorry if that was painful for you- I know poems aren't for everyone! Love Almy Rose!)
