Chapter 27

Hi! Sorry for not uploading as often as normal. But I just started high school and I haven't had much time. So I have monday off from school and iI hope to upload some chapters.

When i reach 20 fans i will upload ten new chapters!

I will also be dedicating a chapter to each of my fans. I have alot of ideas for the story and cant wait to share them with you! I got a new laptop and will be able to do alot of editing for the story now. So now I give you the latest installment of Against All Odds.

Chapter 27

Kandee's Point of Veiw

I watched as Skylar's eyes flickered with several emotions.

First pain and fear. Then relief and joy. And finally guilt and............ love?

'It was probably just my imagination.' I thought.

It has to be my imagination. Sky and I are just friends. Best friends but friends all the same. Plus I could never be good enough for Sky. He wouldnt want a girl like me. Would he? Of course not. No one want a girl as fragile and damaged as me.

I was pulled from my train of thought as Sky smiled at me.

" What happened? "Shy asked. His voice was barely a whisper. It was raspy and barely audible. He winced as he to a breath.

"Do you remember going to the movies with the guys? " I asked gently.

"Yeah. We went and saw that new Steven Speilberg movie. Super Eight i think. Then we got kicked out for throwing popcorn at the old lady sitting in front of us. And then after we got outside I went to get my car. Last thing i remember is feeling like someone was crushing me. " He said as his voice crackled and finally returned to almost normal.

Realisation filled his eyes. He frowned and grit his teeth.

"Whats wrong? Are you hurting at all? Do you need something? " I questioned. He winced.

"Hey Matt? Could you go get a nurse or something? " I asked over my shoulder. I was worried. what if something happened and Sky needed help?

"Sure. I will be right back. " Matt replied stiffly.

I held Skys hand and stroked his cheek trying to soothe him. He watched my face as if it were the last time he would ever see me. His eyes were misty as tears rolled down his cheeks. He looked so fragile like this. It was scary to see him looking so weak and defeated.

Matt returned with a nurse quickly. The young woman checked the moniters and machines before asking Skylar several questions. She left the room only to return moments later with a glass of water and several syringes. She set he glass on the table and headed toward the IV drip bag. She injected several medications into the saline solution. After telling us that the medication would make Sky drowsy she left the room.

I held the glass as Skylar took several gulps of water.

He yawned and laid his head back on the pillows. His eyes slid shut and he drifted to sleep.

"We should probably head home for tonight. And I am sure everyone would like a chance to see him. " Matt murmered as he wrapped his arms around me.

I sighed and mumbled an ok. I hated it but he was right. I wasn't the only one who wanted some time with sky. I brushed the hair from his eyes before I leaned down to kiss Skylars cheek.

My lips grazed his cheek softly. It felt like little shockwaves hit my lips when they touched his skin. I stood up and ignored the urge to hold my fingers to my lips.

"Night Sky, I'll see you in the morning. Love ya. " I whispered softly as I reached the door.
