"Firestar," The ginger tom woke up to Bluestar prodding his side with her paw. "Huh?" Firestar looked around. He stood up and stretched. "What is it, Bluestar?" he asked after yawning. "It's time." the blue-gray she-cat said.
"Time? Time for what?" Firestar asked, following Bluestar as she padded out of his den to the pool of water. Bluestar didn't answer, instead, she meowed, "Firestar, place your nose on the water." she instructed. Firestar obeyed. He felt a ripple pass through his body and he let out a gasp. "Keep your nose to the water!" Bluestar urged.
The tingling slowly turned into pain, and Firestar clenched his jaws together to stop himself from yowling as the burning intensified. It felt like fire, fire burning his pelt, surrounding him.
"Go well, Firestar!" Bluestar called to him as darkness swirled around Firestar. "Let the fire guid you!"
