A new camera angle picks up as Kiera and the Major exit the restaurant after the retreating figure of the suspicious man. The man they follow is occassionally glancing over his shoulder or looking into reflective surfaces to see if they're coming along behind them.
[Kiera]: tugs on the Major's arm, slowing him down "Major... .something's not right."
[Crowe]: seems to have difficulty looking away from the retreating figure, but finally glances down at Kiera's worried face. He stops walking and moves them to the side of the walkway so they can have a little privacy."What isn't right?"
[Kiera]: looking around as if there is a visible change "You can't feel it? This place....." her voice is soft
[Crowe]: "What about this place?"
Kiera isn't looking at the Major, her eyes are wide and she seems entirely distracted by something else. She steps away from the Major, looking like she is about to wakl away from him entirely, like he wasn't there. The Major grabs Kiera's shoulders and shakes her roughly.
[Crowe]: "Kiera!" he shakes her again until she focuses on his face "We're getting out of here, come on." The Major tucks the dazed looking Kiera under his arm and guides her back towards their SUV, looking like any of the other pairs of lovers wandering the streets.
The Major loads Kiera into the SUV and climbs in himself. As he starts the vehicle, a rusted truck stops directly infront of them. The Major looks up at the suspicious man from the restaurant and sees the gun pointed straight at them.
The tableau freezes while the camera swoops angles, changing from the Major's view to the shooter's view. Tucked in the overhead visor is the picture the suspicious man had been looking at in the restaurant. It is not a picture of Kiera, but instead an image of the Major, younger and not as hard looking. The picture is a candid shot, taken without him knowing it had been captured and his face is startlingly open compared to how he looks now.
The Major slams on the gas, ramming the SUV into the truck, causing the shooter to jerk and the first shot to shatter his windshield and sail harmlessly over their SUV. The Major then throws the SUV into reverse and takes it up over the curb and partially onto the sidewalk, then rams the SUV into the truck again, bouncing both vehicles roughly, but scraping passed the shooter. Several more shots fire out of the truck towards them, but the Major is already speeding away, swerving down residential streets to try and loose the pursuit.
[Kiera]: "He's in my head!" she clutches her skull, eyes squeezed shut
[Crowe]: looks over at her briefly, needing to focus on the roads they were speeding down. The camera sees through their back window that the rusted truck has swung onto the street behind them, not gaining but not falling back more either. "What?"
[Kiera]: "He's an EWOC!" she is holding her head as if in great pain.
[Crowe]: "Report." the SUV tilts a little as he takes a turn too quickly. The wheels slam back down and he continues to speed on, the rusted truck gaining behind.
[Kiera]: drops her hands to glare at the Major "Now is so not the f***ing time for a report!"
[Crowe]: lets out an exasperated breath "Kiera just tell me what he can do so I can kill him!"
[Kiera]: "He's a cameleon. Blends into the background. Hides from sight in plain view. I was sitting in the same damn restuarant as him but couldn't even feel him!"
