My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by an uproar created by Diamond, as she shot off her stool and banged her palm against the metal desk.

No Mr Edison! Justin can't work with her!" Diamond persisted, as her vicious eyes scanned my presence. I mentally scoffed. For crying out loud, it is simply a class project, it is not like I expect Justin and I to ride off in the sunset together.

Mr.Edison leaned against his desk and folded his arms across his bulging chest, "Listen to me Diamond. I've already assigned all the pairs using random selection and there will be no tweaking with that", He stated monotone, turning his back towards her. Well, talk about a twist in the story. I'm quite baffled he did not give Diamond what she insisted on for the first time. Diamond trembled over with radiating rage that could be seen in the metallic red rising into her cheeks. I could feel her glares piercing at my skin as Justin attempted to soothe her with his charm. I desperately yearned to laugh ceaselessly but my lips did not permit the giggle.

Justin and Diamond engaged in a few hushed exchanges with Diamond raising her voice at him. On that cue, Justin positioned his body in my direction with a clenched jaw. His appearance was aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. His blue orbs studied me as his lips parted to say something. I felt my throat thicken and the bile attempted to choke me. I was not able to detect whether my physical appearance coincided with my inner emotions allowing for my fears to be put on display.

"You. Worthless fat shit. Let's get one thing straight. We are not friends and we will never be. This project is work and that is all it is ever going to be. Got it?" His voice was harsh and uncaring.

"O-o-k-a-ayy", I stuttered as the lump in my throat sought out to suffocate me. He looked at me confusingly and turned away without bothering to press further. I did not recognize the extent to which his comments had affected me until I felt the sting of salty tears tugging at the corners of my eyeballs.

The boy that caused a swirling hurricane in veins absolutely loathed my unpleasing presence and furthermore did not find me aesthetically pleasing to his eyes.

Geez, pull it together Lacey! I gulped and quietly took a sharp breath. You're used to this Lace I repeated over and over in my mind. Class was finally over and the day went by as it normally would ; moving from class to class, getting insulted and teased throughout my classes and skipping lunch. I always skipped lunch mainly because I detested food and besides I did not have anyone to hangout with. Therefore I would normally go to the library and engulf myself in a world of fantasy, horror or romance ; anything that simultaneously meshed with my mood.

The final class of the day was over, and I began walking to my locker. On my way there I was greeted with the "colorful" names, "sweet" whispers and snide looks. As usual. At this point I can't seem to find a logical reason as to why people take pride and joy in bringing someone else down. When i got to my locker there was a note stuck on it, it read 'cow'. I ripped it off and crumbled it up throwing it in the trash can.
