Chapter Seven: The Swinging Chandelier
My eyes adjusted to the bright room, focusing on the scene in front of me. I was in a baronial golden room. It was illuminated with a expensive looking crystal chandelier. The room was decorated with golden decor. Almost everything was golden. Everything except for a small little baby crib.
It was a maroon color. Inside the crib was a baby with big hazel eyes. She laid in the crib, playing with her maroon blanket. She was giggling to herself, mumbling something in her baby language.
She was unexceptionally adorable and extremely familiar. Those daunting hazel eyes reminded me of myself. Her short little brunette hair was just the same as my own.
"Why would I dream about myself?" I asked out loud.
The baby continued to play around, completely oblivious to anything around her.
The lights in the chandelier began to flicker slightly. I looked up and saw the chandelier shaking. Cocking my head to the side, I wondered what was happening.
I looked back down at the baby. She still continued to play, not even noticing the lights.
'That's strange,' I thought to myself.
Suddenly the chandelier began to viciously shake. Panic struck my nerves as I feared it'll crush the small child. I hurriedly ran to the baby in an attempt to pick up the child, only to have my hands go through the child. It was as if I was a ghost.
"Someone help," I screamed, with wide eyes.
I ran towards the door, only to have it close on my face. I banged against the door, trying to break it down. The doorknobs wouldn't even work. I even banged my body against it, but it didn't work.
My breathing became heavy as I quickly felt tired. I bent over, putting my hands on my knees, sucking deep breaths in. My eyes wondered back to the baby.
My eyes went as wide as saucers as I saw the chandelier begin to fall. The ground beneath me began to erupt. A scream left my lips as I ran to save the child.
"Noooooo," I yelled before the chandelier fell onto the crib and the ground swallowed me whole.
Rias eyes popped open as her body shot up. Sweat coated her body like a second skin. Unlike before, her lungs didn't feel constricted. Instead a cry emerged from the depths of her chest.
She sat on her bed, crying her heart out at the thought of the chandelier falling on the child. She sniffled, wiping the tears on her shirt.
'What kind of dream was that? Why would I ever think of something as horrid as that? And why did that baby look just like me when I was young? Why is all this happening to me,' she cried internally.
She pulled the thin sheet off her with shaky hands and walked to the bathroom to do her business. After getting dressed, she walked downstairs.
"Ria, sweetheart, are you alright. You look like you haven't slept well," her mom worriedly asked her.
Angelika noticed the dark bags that rested under her beautiful daughters eyes. Those eyes that always shined seemed to be dimmed and sad. Sadness that she didn't want to ever see in those adorable eyes.
She didn't know what she was supposed to tell her mother. Everything that was happening to her lately made her seem as if she was going crazy. Did she have an illness?
Was she truly losing her mind?
Would her parents admit her to the hospital after learning about all the things that were happening to her?
