Chapter Thirty-Two: The Lab
When Ria thought about the genetics lab, she expected it to look like a run down haunted looking hospital. What she was met with was a lavish looking lab that came off of a movie. It was filled with all sorts of lab equipments that could easily help them figure out what had happened to Alex.
The walls were a bright white color with silver equipments littered on the counters. A thin layer of dust had covered the counter, which was strange since this place had been shut down last year.
"Alright, before we go in, we should all wear this," Greg handed them all some weird garments. It resembled something an astronaut would wear.
"You said the mutation wouldn't harm us," Ria said.
"Just because it doesn't harm us doesn't mean it can't cling to our body and go to the outside world," Greg explained.
"Why didn't the scientists just do this and clear the place of the mutation?"
He shrugged his shoulders.
When they reached the lab desk, Greg asked Alex to pull out the Petri dish that contained his blood sample. Careful he placed it under the microscope and began to study it. His eyebrows scrunched up together as he looked at it. When he looked back up, his face was shocked.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked. A part of him was afraid something bad might have happened.
"Your cells are moving at an abnormally fast pace, almost like a speedsters."
"Is that a good thing or a bad?"
"As far as I could tell, it's good. The frozen properties seem to still be there so none of your powers were taken away. In fact, you've gotten more powers. Which is actually not a good thing."
The smile on Alex's face dropped. He remembered their conversation from earlier. "This means that others might have been changed too."
"So not only do we have to help Ria control her powers, we have to make sure these Eroians with new powers don't harm people. It used to be so much easier when they only had one power," Brian sighed.
Ria looked at her shoes in shame. She new this was all her fault and wished she could take it back, but how. Was something like this reversible?
"I'm sorry for the mess I've cause," she squeaked out.
Brian, Greg, and Alex groaned.
"Ria, stop blaming yourself. The only person responsible is the one who was foolish enough to take away your powers. It doesn't matter how much your parents begged, a true Eroian knows just how much a persons power means to them," Alex frustratedly said.
"Ria, blaming yourself for something that was beyond your control will get us nowhere. We need to come up with a plan as to how we're going to keep Morrland safe while helping you control your powers," Greg inputted.
"Don't forget that we still need to find the princess and save our planet," Brittany added in an annoyed tone.
Greg looked at her then nodded his head. "Right."
A sense of overwhelming fear struck the boys. Everything seemed to be piling up on them and it felt like too much for a bunch of sixteen year olds. Saving the their planet while trying to keep another safe seemed impossible. They needed help. The need to find Rinneas was now stronger than ever, because with her, they might find Valenteena and Mikael.
*~*~*~*~*
"Like this," Ria asked as she slowly made the basketball levitate.
It was barely off the ground when her excitement skyrocketed and she lost control of her powers. The ball was suddenly thrown towards Alex's head. With wide eyes, he ducked his head. Just as he sighed in relief, Greg yelled at him to duck again.
The ball bounced off the wall, towards the back of his head. Being fast, like before, he ducked. Ria, however, wasn't quick enough. The ball came at a quick speed and smacked her straight in the face, knocking her to the ground.
Her head collided with the ground with a loud thud, completely knocking the air out of her lungs. With blurry vision, she tried sitting up, wince in pain.
Brittany burst into a fit of laughter at the beautiful sight in front of her. She was mad that she had to spend the day with that freak, but now she was happy she showed up.
"Holy shit!" Alex ran to Ria. A part of him wanted to laugh because the scene was that funny, but the fact that she was actually hurt and her nose was bleeding made it vanish. Placing his hands under her, he carried her to the couch bridal style.
Behind him, Greg and Brian followed with worried expressions. They felt bad for her, but what worried them the most was the fact that teaching her how to control her powers was going to be very hard.

I'm back!
So what was at first a writers block turned into me becoming very ill to the point where getting out of bed was a hassle. I know this part is short, but since I'm feeling better, hopefully I can start making them longer again.
As usual, comment any errors and enjoy.
